Man, I drank absinthe this one time at a party, and I decided that I'm not a huge fan of drinks with anise/fennel/licoricish flavors. BUT! I had a couple of shots, then some beers and some shots of other stuff. I got pretty drunk, danced like a fool, played some video games, cooked up a terrible midnight snack, and then went to sleep.

It was as crazy as any other time I drank to get drunk.

Thing about alcohol is it has two very different effects depending on speed of ingestion.

Speed binging is a great buzz (and why things like absinthe are popular) where as extended drinking is much more mild and tends to show alcohol for the depressent it is.

No I really do enjoy it. It's too strong for me to drink straight, but poured in a glass, with cold water dripped onto a sugar cube into it makes it great. I have tried about 5 or 6 different flavors (all 1/5ths) and some are better than others. All the ones I got were post-prohibition and included wormwood.

At first I used to pound it, and loved it. Later I started sipping it, to make it last like a beer. This was great too, but I find it's better colder rather than warmer.
