New tax on decent, hard-working elderly people

Australian online electronics retailer Kogan is... implementing an "Internet Explorer 7 Tax" on customers who use the outdated browser when they make purchases.

The tax will equal 6.8 percent of the total cost, or 0.1 percent for each month since IE7 was released.

I understand that continuing support for software requires time and effort, so I can't entirely blame them... but honestly, you should just probably not support it all-together so that they will be forced to upgrade.
But yes, this is a bit silly despite the logical reasoning.

Kogan has a history of innovative marketing ploys that have generated a lot of interest for minimal outlay. This latest move may just be the company’s best yet, having garnered attention from websites worldwide. Whether that translates to sales is another matter but if the company folds as an online electronics retailer, we’d suggest a move into online marketing

"Not support" means they can't steal money. "Charge a fee (tax?) for it" means they can steal money for it.

I understand your point, but this is nothing more than a money grab. And "tax", my ass...this is a FEE, but it's not a TAX.
