So what if he says the exact same thing. If he does, we lynch him.
You are looking at this the wrong way. The point of letting someone roleclaim is to keep the town from making mistakes. Here's an example :
Suppose Neutrino claims he's a vanilla townie. That's an unverifiable claim (there are usually many townies), but it also means he's unimportant. The town should go ahead and lynch him, because if the town didn't think he was suspicious he wouldn't be at the point of needing to roleclaim in the first place.
Suppose he claims doctor or cop (or some other important role). First off, if there is a doctor or cop, they can counter-claim and we can lynch Neutrino. If their is no counter-claim, though, then there is a chance Neutrino is telling the truth, in which case lynching him is a big mistake. So, the town lynches whoever they think the second-scummiest player in the game is. If Neutrino is telling the truth, he gets night-killed. If he was lying, then he lives, and we lynch him tomorrow. Either way, this is a better outcome than lynching him ourselves today and letting the mafia get a free kill tonight.
Letting the lynchee roleclaim is always beneficial to the town, because it gives the town more information to work with.
