I don't see "Cuban Missile Crisis" up there. I heard that scared a lot of people.

Are you old enough to remember the commercials that used to play on the TV? I always laughed at that little turtle dropping and covering in his shell to save himself from the nuclear blast.
Or the air raid drills at school? In case of nuclear war, get under your desk. LMAO.

I don't know about the Cuban Missile Crisis itself, per se...but the possibility of nuclear war in general I would say has to top the list.

Post 9/11 terrorist meme is definitely the most overused meme. Always gets downvoted on reddit

As for scariest, probably global warming. Waterworld, I'm ok with. Lavaworld... f*ck that shit.

global cooling and global warming are tied for scariness but pregnant Mexicans appear to be consensus-favorites as scariest of all

What about kittens? Won't somebody think of the kittens!?

Personally I find the widening wealth-distribution gap, coupled with the growing authoritative tendencies and the spreading apathy regarding political affairs among the populace in supposedly free and democratic countries to be far scarier than any option in the poll.
Yes, even scarier than nuclear war, because the situation described above is a destabilising factor that makes conventional war and nuclear war more likely to occur.

Chinese Economic Power will Overwhelm the US (2000s)

It's not scary... well maybe for the US foreign policymakers, who might react incorrectly and worsen the situation, but that being said, wait that's it...

"What's the Scariest?" Perhaps, the US government itself in its attempts to police the world because it simply creates more problems and conflicts.

I agree 100% with this and it should be in the poll.

I voted for all of them except for 6, which were chosen randomly. I've ruined your poll. My philosophy in life is to be a dick when I don't get my way. I've learned a lot from some posters in CC here.

The scariest thing I ever heard was that song by Morrissey - "The more you ignore me the closer I get".
I mean, you can't win!
Hopefully this post counts as "not ignoring Morrissey" and will move him back at least three feet.

What a bunch of boring, repetitive options. Saxi, I'm truly disappointed.

What about killer bees?

What about the Harmonic Convergence?

What about prions?

What about the Illuminatti pulling the plug?

Supervolcanos? Asteroid impacts? Celine Dion?
