Of course the UN treaty on gun control is coming up on Friday. And just a few days ago, the cream of the crop in neuroscience who recently partook in some "classified" research over the summer when his part time job at Micky D's did not pan out goes on the largest, fastest and most furious shooting spree in US history with tens of thousands of dollars in weaponry and gear, funded by his unemployment checks. He killed at will with no regard for human life, but when a police officer walked up to him he surrendered without with a whimper and warns the cops about the booby traps he set for them.

Without fail and right on time, ABC reports that the shooter is a member of the Tea Party, then immediately apologizes and retracts their report.

For sure, it's all just a coincidence.

Read the bullet points at the bottom. They explain the ramifications of the Arms Trade Treaty in better detail. I'm assuming it's accurate and the wild speculations elsewhere are not accurate.

According to the UNODA website,
-Preparations to address this issue have been underway since 2006 and will culminate in the Conference on an Arms Trade Treaty in July 2012.

And basically, it's a plan to standardize weaponry and broaden the scope of these nation-states over the black market of small arms. It would be fantastic if this treaty somehow prevented the US and other countries from dumping tons of small arms into the hands of rebels and/or terrorists, but that's of course a fantasy. Currently, the extent of the binding restrictions of the UN treaties on any nation depends on that nation's military power.

Gun registration and licensing are pushed as a way to trace those who supply these illicit weapons. Yet, to see the problem with these regulations, one only needs to look at how ineffective they have been in solving crime. Canada just recently ended its long gun registry as it was a colossal waste of money.

He mentions the ineffectiveness of registration on guns in Canada for reducing crime, which if true, suggests that this treaty would be ineffective for reducing crime in the US. The author, John Lott Jr., also wrote a book called More Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun Control Laws.


This ATT (arms trade treaty) could be very interesting. To speak holistically (and to save space), the state could use this in order to expand certain bureaucracies while giving many Americans the feeling of additional security. Furthermore, the recent Batman killings could be used repeatedly by certain mainstream media outlets as justification for additional gun control laws. A crisis emerges, the state steps up to plate, the people who strongly motivated by fear through the ball, and the state scores a homerun, and enough people feel good about it. In other words, this may be another example of the ratchet effect coming into play.

The European Union is preposterous. Impossible trinity means you cannot have a fixed exchange rate, absence of capital controls, and an independent monetary policy. Durr when multiple countries are using the same exact currency there is no exchange rate and good luck keeping Euros from one EU country from going to another....

So the speculators control national economies by manipulating the bond market, and the governments have limited control to curb inflation since they don't control the printing of the currency and can't just refuse to lend banks the money....

People 300 years ago couldn't predict what we have now... I think we all have a hard time predicting technological advances in 50 years. Forget 300.
