This is good.
People should think more about security. Even most programmers know little to nothing about it.

Using this + TOR might actually make interception difficult even for the bigger players.

Trust me, I'm impressed with your declared ability to use Reddit.

reddit is for three groups of people:

(1) complainers
(2) smelly debaters
(3) and benevolent disseminators like Haggis

read natty's article, maybe you'll get a better view of the value of cryptography.

Btw, it's a good article, but this:
Silk Road is only accessible through Tor, an anonymizing subnetwork on the net that people in Egypt used during the insurrection, and which makes the person using it practically impossible to track.

Is an exaggeration.
Let's just say there's no such thing as perfect crypto. All you can do is increase the cost someone has to incur to intercept your message. If you're buying weed, this is probably enough. If you're buying nuclear secrets, not so much.

If you believe that personal cryptography isn't important, that's fine...you have a right to think that. I would personally consider that belief to be severely misguided and irrational.

This is exactly correct.

What if you're buying nuclear weed from the Chernobyl area?

I don't browse Reddit on my own because I'd more than likely waste so much of my time on there.
This is why I'm grateful for people that link interesting things that get posted there (but don't necessarily originate there) - so I don't immerse myself in the site.

Google'd. Interesting...?
Is it hashish or marijuana?

I wouldn't call it either, tbh. It's whatever they can find from the garage, like used tractor tires and motor oil, with maybe a nominal amount of cannabis mixed in with random pharmaceuticals, all pressed into a brick resembling a bar of soap.

Today I learned that some drug users are very, very strange.

I'm sure they are, but mainly it's just that some drug dealers are very, very greedy and immoral.

Soapbar comes from russia (as far as I know), it's just a way for the organized crime to make some extra money with minimal risk or investment. This is just the kind of shit that happens with the "war on drugs" thing. No quality control, and who knows about the longterm effects of all that shit they put in it...

Oh, I took what you had said as people were buying "soapbar" intentionally knowing that's what it is. So I misunderstood, apparently.

Well... I guess some people do buy it even knowing what it is. But even they usually only buy it when there's no good products available, it's mainly chronic drug users who are desperate to get something to smoke... but certainly, I'd say most people do buy it thinking it's actual hashish.

These are the kind of things that should be taught at those drug education classes. Caveat emptor and all that.
