First of all, anybody who hasn't played BG2 will probably not be interested in this at all. There's your warning to stop reading. Anybody who has played it, well, you probably won't be that interested either, but at least you'll know what I'm talking about.
Anyway, I've grown bored with my current playthrough where I've reached Brynlaw/Spellhold, so I decided to start a new character. I made a female (never played as a female before) Elven multi-class Fighter/Mage/Thief. For this character, I decided I was going to make a god character and solo the game, or at least as much as I feel like playing without growing bored with her. There is a utility called ShadowKeeper that let's you directly edit savegames. It's normally useful if you messed up by dropping an important item earlier in the game, or if you want to adjust some stats or whatever.
Anyway, using ShadowKeeper, I raised all of my stats to 25, raised my proficiencies in Longsword and Longbow up to 5 stars, and my two-weapon up to 3 stars. I memorized all of the good spells, and set all of my thief skills up to 100+. I gave myself boots of speed, the Belt of Inertia, the Cloak of Mirroring, the Thief's Hood (from ToB), the Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialization, the Amulet of Power, some Elven Chainmail (the only armor you can cast spells with, and the only non-leather armor you can use thief skills with), 2 really nice longswords (I forget the exact ones), the Heartseeker bow, and some fire, acid, and frost arrows. I also gave myself the Ring of Acuity and the Ring of Wizardry, so I can memorize the extra spells. I also went ahead and gave myself 40,000 gold.
Ha, I ended up clearing Irenicus' dungeon within about 10 minutes, which usually takes me at least 20 minutes with the 4/5 party members. Once I got out into Athkatla proper, I went to the Adventure mart and bought the Dak'kon Zerth blade (nice Katana that lets you memorize extra spells) and the Robe of Vecna (pretty much the best robe in the game...increases your casting speed by 5, grants you magical resistance, sets AC to 5, something else too...both of these items are available from an add-on, some official one that was granted to certain editions of the games...there are actually 2 of them, one puts another merchant in the Adventurer's Mart, the other puts one in the Copper Coronet...you can get both online from the same place you get the fixpacks). Turns out the Robe of Vecna has the same AC that using the Elven Chainmail gives you, and you can still use your thief skills, so I went with the robe for the quicker casting times.
I'm gonna actually start on the game now, most likely with incredible speed and killing power. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I also gave myself 1.8 million experience right off the bat, which you would think would give me a really high level, but with it being a 3-way multi-class, it got it to level 10 Fighter, level 11 Mage and level 12 Thief. Still not bad for just starting out. This chick is a god among mere men.
Should be fun for a bit. I imagine it will get boring after a while of so easily dominating everything.
Anyway, there's been a fair amount of discussion of these old RPG's and BG in particular around the forum, so I thought I'd share this. Plus, I mean, at least it's not about politics...
