actually this reminds me. i have another political correctness scenario for you.
was out watching an anti-japan protest in beijing last week. saw a placard which translated literally as 'give me two guns, one to kill all the japanese men and another to rape their women with'. was later given a quick rundown of japanese war crimes by a colleague of mine, in the office, and told that i shouldn't use japanese accessories.
doesn't that just make you want to weep all over those trendy, lenseless spectacles of yours?
It fits into the place where she should try to understand WHY IT IS that "almost all the great things achieved throughout history have been achieved by men".梦龙 wrote:when i was working in africa a female colleague told me that men ought to be above women in society because almost all the great things achieved throughout history have been achieved by men. she was one of the most senior people in the organisation.
where does that fit on your 'political correctness' scale?
Its shows a lack of awareness of history, and particularly an understanding of why that has been so.梦龙 wrote:when i was working in africa a female colleague told me that men ought to be above women in society because almost all the great things achieved throughout history have been achieved by men. she was one of the most senior people in the organisation.

She isn't considering that for all of history men have been oppressing women, and that is why men have achieved the great things. Men have also had the biggest screw ups in history as well. Unfortunately I don't think the issue of men keeping women in a lower-power position is going to change.梦龙 wrote:when i was working in africa a female colleague told me that men ought to be above women in society because almost all the great things achieved throughout history have been achieved by men. she was one of the most senior people in the organisation.
