But religion is fair game eh? I find it pretty funny that for some reason political correctness is defended very staunchly while religions are openly bashed on the forums. Seems like a lot of self-righteous bull-hooey and hypocrisy.
Seriously?Do you honestly think they are remotely comprable?People die horrible painful deaths with cancer, religious belief is just opinion/speculation about the ultimate questions that may be unanswerable anyway.I'm lost for words to fully describe my contempt for such a twisted view.
Funkyterrance wrote:Yup, I'm serious. Many people experience extreme pain in death but embrace it because it is in their faith to do so. Just because your personal faith is weak doesn't mean it can't be all- important to someone else. You think just because you value comfort over religion means that everyone does? You're the one with the twisted view, friend.

This doesn't really make much sense as a response to his statement. Furthermore, "comfort" is one of the two primary reasons why religion even exists (the other being "control/power").
Funkyterrance wrote:The fact is that BBS did not give symm any disease, he was just discussing a hypothetical scenario.
What we are discussing really is people's feelings. It hurts someone no less to trash their beliefs as it does to discuss their dying from a horrible death.
Funkyterrance wrote:I was comparing the feelings involved with the discussion of each. It's hypocritical because you can't quantify one as having more weight than the other.
