Honestly, who's being the baby?
You discovered that your avatar was, for good reason, found to be highly offensive to someone else here in the community. If your aren't a Nazi sympathizer you are at least coming off as a sociopath and you are strengthening this image the longer you keep up the avi. Of course you can keep the avi up until someone forces you to take it down but as far as the damage to your reputation you obviously don't care what others think about you anyway so what are you complaining about?

I don't know if there is a right answer here - my instinct is to ban it. But it is probably better to see & get offended. I just typed swastika into google and at no time did the word swastika appear in the predictive text. Even when I had typed swastik wtf else am I looking up.
There is a saying that those ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it - this is reproduced on a wall in auswitz.

Did anyone else notice a town called swastika, ontario. lmao.

Correct. And the moderators have correctly, (IMO) stated that this avatar is fine. If betiko doesn't like it, as you said, he can leave. Or just ignore it.

It's not like it's going to have any real effect since you only put it up to spite. The only thing you've accomplished is having a vague and meaningless looking avatar, congrats.

Me? My avatar isn't vague and meaningless. I got the picture from the Wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika. It's a Buddhist symbol, translated to mean "being with higher self". I was born and raised Roman Catholic, but pulled back as I saw how absurd the entire religion/establishment is. For the longest time I've been agnostic/atheist. Lately I've been learning about Buddhism, and felt that it was time to adopt a symbol to show my new-found exploration into alternative ideologies. Plus it was time for the smiley face to go.

lol I feel sorry for you   not having the balls of putting a nazi symbol as arianempire does (arians in the real concept come from persia not nordics)....  at least he has the balls to express his opinions. he's a nazi wannabee, but at least a real one. you're just using a sanskrit symbol that is all but agressive. This is not a buddhist symbol it's a sanskrit symbol used also in the jain and hindou religions. it's anything but offensive as it represents positive forces of the universe.

Heil persian empire!
haven't read the thread yet, but i'm happy for you to see that white power prevails and that it's now morally fine to worship the SS. I would like to see your nazi object collection, I bet it's impressive! beautiful nazi flags as curtains, hanging weapons on the walls, badges, a little "mein kampf" under the your pillow and a few images of gased jews! haha, that was some funny shit! you had so much fun visiting concentration camps with daddy when you were a kid and seeing how these jews were beaten up. Too bad uncle adolf got beatten and you had to move to canada like all SS did!
Have fun with the rest of your life, because aged 74 there is not much left to it! you'd better teach those good old nazi values before you're gone, but you know, since now it's become politically correct and all, I see a great future in this! :D

I've got to be honest, I was about 99% sure you'd be as baffled by that comment as I was.

The video was of SS members that did not realize they were bad guys. It's mocking the guy who's trying to use his grampa's hat pin as an avatar.

That thread was a thoroughly enjoyable read, although there were some stupid comments in it. When I started reading it I had no idea which side would sway me, or if any side would even have a fair argument. But now that I've read it I've got to say that they Europeans have got me sympathizing with their views. But I must reflect that, as a historian, I should have already sympathized with it. No, I don't believe that the The Dead Man's Head should be banned, but I completely sympathize with wanting the SS' version of it banned. It is easily on par with the Swastika, and unarguably; it's even worse.

Look, if a Buddhist CCer wanted to sport the Swastika; I'd be completely ok with that. They had it first and it's not coming from a place of hate. But the SS Death's Head has only ever had one meaning tied to it: Murderer. These guys who were awarded the little metal pins weren't liberators or anyone worthy of being a role model for an honest & compassionate human being. They were brainwashed murderers who operated outside of all conscience.
You need to be clear with what we are discussing here. This SS totenkopf was worn by the Einsatzgruppen, the Death Squads. They were not soldiers. Hitler himself decreed that they were neither soldiers nor police. It was their job to find any hidden Jews or other "undesirables" in Western Russia & Ukraine, and murder them. That was all they did. They were permitted to butcher anyone in their way, even other soldiers. Later, they carried out the exact same pogrom in Eastern Europe and the Baltic's. They killed over 1 million people, all in personal ways, and were the ones who first began the organized slaughters of Jews and other minorities.
This symbol was also sported by the SS members of the Totenkopfverbände, or you might find it easier to call them the Concentration camp guards. You don't need a scolding about that or an explanation of their duty's.

It's entirely understandable, in this light, to see why the avatar would disturb someone, and why they should feel it deserves to be banned.

The German's had other Dead Man's Head Badges, I believe this one is from a Tank Officer.
Image

But it's not offensive to anyone. These Tank Crews may have also been racist a-holes, but they weren't taking Hungarian Jewish Babies by the legs and then using them as wishbones and tossing the corpses into the Danube, were they? Because the Einsatzgruppen did do that. As an American I love the Freedom of Speech as much as anyone, but understandably, this site doesn't have it. And if the Swastika is banned, then the symbols of the Einsatzgruppen deserve to be banned as well.

Yeah I don't get it either. I can only tell that it's the symbol for a girls team of some kind. It looks like a pidgeonrooster standing on a Basketball to me, but I don't think girls play that game.
So I don't know, it's probably just some lame lady sport I've never heard of. No man is going to play for a team where the mascot is a Cock. That much is for certain.

i see you know a little bit about arian history and all that , but that was some funny stuff i actually laughed a little bit when you said pics of jews and nazi flags mein kampf and all that haha no this is not american history x ok stop watching so many movies lmao . i saw a bad ass skull sifting through some pics and i thought thats a good avatar , noone complained i thought i was good , 3 years later .... hey douche bag i dont like your avatar take it off , or ill go to the mods f u . but its all gravy , next avi will be some finely made israeli weapons , thems some good killing machines right there :)
