Tournament question

I am playing in a Flat Rate Classic, Round 1. There are 3 games, 4 players each. 48 advance to round 2. It doesn't say anywhere that I can find, how those 48 are selected. My dilemma is not knowing which strategy to implore. Are there points for 2nd and 3rd place?

I'm also playing in a poly tourny with 5 games in the first round. it says in that one though, "best of 5" moves on. Perhaps we can do something similar for the Flat Rate Classic.

In all the auto tourneys that I've played, the only thing that counts is wins. I don't think they do point systems.

Auto Tournaments have nothing to do with the actual Tournament world. Stop directing these questions there, they don't belong. Thanks.

Ties in Score shall be broken by the following rules, applied in order:

The cumulative number of Game rounds required to win the games they have won in the tournament (winning in less rounds is better)
The number of games that they did not cause to be abandoned
The order in which the player joined the tournament (first player to join wins)
