I have been lumped into the "Fairly Newb to Very Newb" category and I agree. I have only played a few mafia games on CC, but I have played several more on another site. However, I am not very experienced...blah blah blah...

I am a HUGE fan of Breaking Bad. If I had to choose I would select it as my favorite TV series.
As far as characters that I think are a MUST for this Mafia include:

1. Walt
2. Jesse
3. Hank
4. Gus
5. Mike
6. Saul

However, just because Walt is the main character and since I know how the series evolves, I do not believe he necessarily is "Town" ....perhaps he needs a solo win or something similar.

Jesse, maybe a village idiot type of role.

Hank, cop. no doubt about it.

Gus, Mafia

Mike - I would think a Strongman/ninja type of role.

Saul - Walt and Jesse's lawyer...

Those are 6 roles that I believe are for sure here somewhere.

Other roles from the series that could be involved:
Badger and Skinny Pete (Both allied with Jesse and maybe by extension Walt)
We have Gus's crew and The Mexican cartel crew. I would bet at least 2 mafias in this game.

---

As far as the posting right now. D1 is always strange and no one really knows where to lean. I am OK with lynching a non-active, but I think the game is still too early to see who will be "inactive"

I also do not like attacking someone just because they are a Vet or a noob.

I couldn't agree more with all you said keener. As another guy who's seen the entire show, I was thinking that these 6 were there for certain.
Regarding walt though, I was initially thinking the same, but if we read between the lines in what strike replied... it seems like he had to do something simple regarding walt's alignment (town), or at least that's what I understand. Not sure there is that complexity in the walt/jessie relationship translated in the alignments.
hank, definitely a cop, but my guess is thrid party with his side kick Gomez.

hum... could there be a walt and a heisenberg impersonated by 2 different players? :? there has to be some strange thing in the setting... all official games have! and right now, I think that anyone who has seen the show would agree that walt/heisenberg is too much of a loose canon to be just another townie.. the show is called "breaking bad" refering to him obviously.

Actually I really like this list for 1 major reason. It lets me know who has played together and possibly has a feel for each other. The only person I've played with before is MoB so to be honest I don't know if any of you are acting out of the ordinary. I'll probably use this list when reading posts where someone calls another player out just to see if they have played many games together.

Also, I don't mind spoilers that help the game. Spoilers for spoilers sake though in a 10 page fresh game seems a little much.

In the TNC forum we've tried something new lately. It comes with much fire though. Due to the fact that we hardly ever catch scum on D1 and that we tend to go after similar people each day. (Some players are just too blabbermouthed as townies for their own good). We started trying a random pressure on D1. MoB actually suggested a system where we pick a high scoring sports game like a NBA game and then cycle through the OP list of players via the combined score. So like if the score was 125-120 you'd have 245 points so cycle though our list 1-18 repeatedly from and you'd land on the 11th player in the list. It's a little complicated but that seemed the best way to keep someone from rigging the random.

We also have feelings to think about as clan mates though so maybe that's what sparked the idea. I think the weak players who got pressured D1 often because they didn't really help got offended.

Anyway, as the newbie of newbies I'm totally fine with continuing the joke stage. It seems that we are back to the joke stage again as I don't really see anything sticking out and we need to generate some more discussion.

Instead of using random.org this time though I'll just come out and vote Rugburn

because these are his only posts and I'd like to hear more from him than OMGUS and hello:

Also, thought on what Betiko is talking about. Do you think Walt could be a turncoat? Someone who could be both town or mafia in the end?

I expect people to start forming opinions. Start pushing on people they think are scum. Also as you can tell, i want discussion. If people don't like my line of questioning that's fine, then they need to provoke something else in the air instead of stonewalling and killing conversation.

I'll probably be getting around today with some harder opinions.

I'm fine on the opinions, but you have to realize it's a little hard to form them on 99.9% jokevotes.

I don't like that I can't really put much of an opinion on what characters might be in this game :x Damn you work, taking away my TV time.

Anyways. Virus' posts are baffling me a bit.

Let's talk less about setup
mod made a post about setup.

unless people want to push for a mass claim on d1 then, we do not have much to talk about. Sure it is interesting, but tbh its clutter for this day.

absolutly not rng day 1 Lynch.

Im still happy with cooldeals or virus for a day 1 . Lynch..

I am trying hard to get town on track, and for you to make another push for RNG and to drive town off topic back to jokes just irks me more.

I would like to point out that virus and I are friends and in the same clan. That is why I was aware of his real life situations making him quiet everywhere, not just here. I am not buddying or pushing him; I posted as I didn't know when he would make an appearance.

Suspecting players of being scum because they lurk is not the best basis.

I have a townread or two at the moment, nothing more.

Cooldeals,
If you want to vote me out -fine, but at least spell my name right!

Betiko must be mafia, cause townies would never make fun of a disabled teenager - too PC. I do like the shoe umbrellas.

Also, remember it's not how MUCH you say in this game, it's WHAT you say (or don't say).

@X-stor Could you please build a case? It's D1 we have nothing to go on. We are realistic and admit that and are letting conversation happen. You are just attacking every single person who doesn't make a case out of thin air when you yourself have no case except that people have no case which is the same case that could be made about you. In any case, I'm curious as to the case of your case that doesn't involve not making a case.

there are always a few players that disapear for a few days, a game like this lasts at least 2 month, and day 1 is always a pain in the ass to start moving. there is rarely anything to start with on day 1 obviously... people lynch on a luck based gut feeling...

hey nag; you didn't answer. you had a breaking bad mafia prepared as well? given that this one has started i guess you will never do the one you started preparing?
could be interesting if you could tell us how you thought of your settings. there are different shades of good and bad in the show, and after all walt, the main character makes a trip from good to bad throughout all the show.. since it's an official game I expect some very unique mechanisms, but maybe I'm wrong.

I had a few ideas floating around but nothing concrete set up. One idea I had was of Walt starting as a townie, then becoming part of the mafia, then later potentially a split from the mafia but I hadn't figured out the mechanics exactly. Ermentrout as a janitor, fring as having immunity from investigation with his burger bar cover, hank as a cop, gomie as deputy, saul as mafia politician, various other roles like walt jr, marie, jane, badger making up the town.

With 18 alive it takes 10 to lynch. Deadline is Tuesday, March 4th.

I have to go out of town unexpectedly and won't be fully back until late Thursday. I should still check the thread and have my laptop to read PMs but I probably won't respond to all of them and I don't think I'll be able to post a full vote count. Considering the pace this game is keeping right now, if someone could post a vote count while I'm gone that would help a lot. Thanks. As far as activity, keep it up. I think there are a couple who haven't posted as much but pretty much everyone is keeping active. Really nice to see.

the way i see it, is its a way to role hunt. it is a way to innocently talk about set up, and characters from the show. As town we are less likely going to pick up on slips about ones character. Pretty sure mafia would have a much easier time picking up on setup talk and finding a strong town role to kill off. Anything setup talk is also not alignment telling. "Hey walts gonna be town cause he is always trying to help his family" vs "no walts gonna be scum cause he is an evil person" I'm telling you now, if someone claims to be the most innocent person in the show, and obviously they should be town that isn't gonna mean much to me IMO. That persons actions and posts and opinions in this game will be the deciding factor.

Random number Generator

so it in use "Well idk who to lynch today, lets RNG it"
in reality you probably just randomly pick, you don't ACTUALLY use a random number generator.
