We were expecting 6 inches of snow. Then 4. Then half an inch. It didn't snow.

Sounds like here. Could be scheduled to get 6-8 inches, would be lucky to get a dusting of snow. On the flip side, could be scheduled for clear weather, and end up with that 6-8 inches.
