Doggerland [sunken North sea]NEWER Version 2.2[Abandoned]

Postby Balsiefen on Thu May 03, 2007 12:11 pm

Just wondering what people think of this, it is set in the late stone age when, while there wasn't an ice age, the sea levals were much lower, this created a lush land in the north sea whare the majoritly of people lived.

I like the idea but Dogger has a rather rude meaning in the UK at least... I know its the genuine name but perhaps something different would be a good idea to save ridicule.

Ok ive started with a first draft to see how it would work, ive added a few continents but i couldnt get any colours looking good so their in grayscale for now
Image
Continents:
Britain
Doggerland(or any politer name :) )
Europe
Denmark
Norway
Scotland

Ive been wondering how to do territory namesfor this map as its set in the stone age, So far its eather:
*Modern names (underwater featurs or old landscapes for doggar)
*Roman names for native tribes (still underwater features old landscapes for doggar)
*Land features (hills, rivers, moors present in that time)
*Mixture

Edit: is there any way to turn this into a new poll?

I thought this was a joke thread when I saw it... amusing!!

Good luck with the map - I like the idea...

Naming wise - are there no names from those times? Can you find a map with any names? If not use modern ish names - and try and find some names of parts of the north sea for Dogger.

I don't think you should have continents for this map. You should instead have 'capitals', like ideal places for cavemen to settle (near rivers, etc.).

I'd contemplate adding a sea route from the Vikings to Dogger Fens or similar?

I thaught of that but doggar has 5 borders already, that would make it almost impossible to hold

I'm using Gimp, unfortunatly it only has 1px or 3px brush, however theres a good tool that might make it look less pixelated
