Not being a peasant, I wouldn't have thought they had a different color. Good one, nagerous...

nagerous, your vote must be in red.

As for the "color" question; well, it's too late now, but in future games I think I'm going to disallow it. The point of the "don't quote your role PM rule" is to keep people from using information in the PM to establish scum/town information. The color of your role counts.

hmmm. Sorry aimless. I have always thought that that rule was a little gray. It is a foggy line as to what you can and cannot do. Perhaps someone should clear that up in the mafia sticky.

I see where you're coming from. I'm not a fan of the 'how many words are in your win condition' thing, but when it comes to color, or the exact name of roles in a theme game, that's part of the flavor, and part of the investigative process... moz just looks like he overreached and claimed a role that he didn't know enough about. I like what autoload did in one of his games (I think it was the 19-player one), where he just posted the PM for vanilla townies.

Oh, and to get this moving, so we don't have to wait for nagerous to come back...

Yeah; I know it's a gray area. It's also something I forgot to consider when I was making the rules.

The problem here is that I can see this side of the argument, as well. My general interpretation, in terms of a "spirit of the rules kind of thing" is that information based on the PM which can be used to directly establish guilt or innocence should be illegal. Mafia is a game of paranoia and figuring out people's alignments based on their actions and words, not figuring out who's scum by asking for priviledged information.

Role claims (and name claims in theme games) are obviously allowable, since that information isn't priviledged. Quoting your PM in order to establish innocence is obviously disallowable, because that is. Likewise, the exact wording of your win condition is priviledged information. The color of your role? That, I'm not too certain about. As a GM I use colors to establish factions in a game, so my initial view is that the color of your faction is priviledged information, and shouldn't be given out.

Well, at any rate, we have a lynch. Death scene in a few minutes.

Yeah I remember in Puffs game I got mod-killed for saying to much of my pm. I read the rules wrong and thought That as long as it wasnt word for word/didnt put it in a quote then I would be fine.

It's a damn slippery slope, to be certain. But I guess that pretty much answers the whole 'are the yellow guys in a cult' question. (with a resounding NO).

With 7 votes, moz has been lynched!

"Despite the lynching of an innocent noble the day before, Prince John felt good. Robin Hood was dead. Will Scarlett and Friar Tuck, his associates, were also dead, courtesy of the late Sir Guy. Only Robin's right hand man, Little John, remained at large - without him, the Merry Men would be leaderless, and fall apart.

As midday came, he heard the news he had been waiting for - one of his soldiers had seen a giant man wielding a staff making his way through the greenwood. Prince John order his entire army into the forest after him; he would surround the miscreant and put an end to this once and for all.

As evening came, his trap had been sprung. The Merry Men were putting up resistance, but they were outnumbered and had no where to run. It wouldn't be long now. Smirking in anticipation, Prince John sent a runner to fetch his executioner, and to bring some rope."

W00T. Go peseants!!!! Will you put all the explanations on the front page. What exactly are the royals? Why are maid marian and Alan a Dale a different faction that all the others? How exactly did the archary contest work? I would love an explanation. This has been a great game with plenty of twists. Thanks! :D :D

Unfortunately, I'm out of town through next week and stuck using my laptop, thus I don't have access to all of my game notes (such as who took which night actions when, or any of the role PMs); I'll post those to the thread when I get home in a week.

However, there's still some information I should share now :

First, regarding mandalorian and Selin's roles - as some of you had guessed, both were "traitor" roles. mandalorian would have become a member of the Merry Men had Robin Hood won the Archery Contest, and Selin would have become a member once the Bishop of Hereford (for dummies) was dead.

Unfortunately, I made a mistake when I created both roles, and initially gave them townie win conditions - hence mandy's "lynch me before Day 3!" thing. He (correctly) surmised that his alignment was going to change, and decided to die before it could. In retrospect, I should have given both roles survivor win conditions to begin with.

Next up, the archery contest - four people were given special abilities during the contest.

AK_iceman (the Sheriff) was given the ability to unmask on contestant at any time during the contest.

got tonkaed (Sir Guy) and moz (Little John) were both given day kills.

Colaalone (Robin Hood) was given the choice to disguise himself as another player (he chose Selin), in case he was unmasked.

The archery contest was something else...

and I feel happy in that I was right about moz calling in the hit on tonka and then making himself scarce for awhile...

Yeehaw!

As for the factions :

The Royals (Prince John, the Sheriff, Sir Guy, and the Royal Bodyguard) were a simple townie faction, but with one extra restriction - in order for them to win, at least one member of their faction must survive the game.

The Peasants were given the ability to rebel if they so wished, but they had to do so in unison (by voting each night), and the vote had to be unanimous.

Robin Hood had a semi-hider ability : He could disguise himself as another player each night, and any night action which targeted him would hit the other player instead (any action which targeted his disguise had a 50% chance of hitting him).

Will Scarlett was a mafia framer, although he died before that ability became important.

Prince John and the Sheriff were masons together (to make up for the "one of you must survive restriction). Also, Prince John had the ability to deny peasants the right to vote, although he never used it.

The other roles were mostly straightforward.

And, one last thing - despite what someone said earlier, there were in game benefits to participate (actually, to advancing past the first round) in the tournament. Nobles gained a double voter ability for a day, Aegnor gained a one time "Watcher + Tracker" ability - that is, he could see people who visited his target as well as whom his target visited. LSU gained a medicinal salve that allowed him to survive one assassination attempt against Prince John (which came in handy Night 5, since moz tried to kill XenHu - that's why there was no night kill that night). got would have gained an additional day kill, had he lived. Cola gained a cop-like ability that allowed him to learn the role of the person he chose for his disguise.

Great game Aimless. Hope to see yall join my civil war game.

Pancake I told you there was no cult :) and I also told yall the whole time that i would be twice as likely to die at night than anyone in the game since if i was targeted or the prince was targeted away i would go haha. I just figured that the bonus I got in the contest wasn't worth mentioning since only the scum would've known that I survived an assassination attempt and to ask about that would've been well scummy :)
