I understand the ‘left’ can be annoying and that ‘political correctness’ has been taken way too far.

That said, the ‘right’ still has many areas where censorship is their thing....
- The ‘Right’ wants to censor groups like Planned Parenthood from talking about Abortion as an option... in some states doctors or clinics that receive government funding are forbidden from speaking about all the options available to pregnant women.
- The ‘Right’ in many states interjects their political and religious views into public school curriculum.... they demand that “Creationism” be covered by teachers as equal to Evolution, yet one is a religious belief and the other is a scientific fact.

I’m sure if we thought bout it we’d find more current day examples.

Yes, ‘political correctness’ is annoying and often goes to far... but I could argue that the involvement of the ‘right’ in pushing science to the side and interjecting religion is more damaging to our country long-term than a little ‘political correctness’ run amok.

I believe you are referring to a federal law that bans federal money to organizations that provide abortion. Planned Parenthood was trying to have its cake and eat it to by creating "referral services" in the very facility that did the abortion for the very purpose of skirting around the law. Now they have agreed not to seek the funding by such means and the matter is settled.

Creationism is a thing that only appears in a few states, (specifically the Bible Belt) and most conservatives laugh at the idea. This is not to be confused with intelligent design which is also not something most conservatives push these days.

Mind you, even this is somewhat pointless; the opposite of progressive left thinking is actually libertarian not conservative.

I'm going to disagree here. "Creationism" is a specific attempt to use a literal translation of Genesis. It then attempts to shoehorn facts into the literal narrative.

"Intelligent Design" is really a modification of the watch / watchmaker design of the age of enlightenment theists. Wikipedia's article suggests that the watchmaker analogy started with Newton and Descartes.

It does get complicated because Creationists try to use ID to make their argument, but they are a really either a subset of ID or are just abusing ID.

The real answer does complexity indicate a designer? Or does complexity indicate we are not really seeing the world through the proper rule set. (In other world the world looks complex because we are looking at the world in the wrong way that makes it seem complex.) And even if it is complex, does that demand an intelligent designer setting all the parameters that might make up the universe? Unlike the question of "but it says here that ..." this is actually an interesting philosophical debate; probably wrong but not moronically wrong.

I'm pretty sure I haven't. I know it was an important strand of philosophy from the late 17th Century to the mid-19th, but I think it pretty much died out. I suppose there are still some out there, just like there are theoretically still some Zoroastrians out there, but the niche that was occupied by non-doctrinal theists is now mostly filled by "Mild" agnostics that allow for the possibility of a god but don't challenge a scientific worldview.

So, yes, they may be drawing on an older tradition, but in modern times the people selling ID are just Creationists who know how indefensible their position is and are trying to sneak in a variant.

I'm not sure you would recognize one if you talked to one. ID tended to die out in the 19th century when there was a feeling that science was pretty much settled. (It was the same arrogance that caused someone to suggest that the US Patent Office close down because everything that could be invented was invented.) Even relativity was relatively straight forward. Then came quantum mechanics, particle theory, string theory and suddenly the complexity of the universe reared its ugly head again. Most scientists who believe in god generally do so because of the complexity of the science they see before them. It may not be an exact replica of the watchmaker argument, but it gets pretty close.
