That kinda makes no sense.

Ever heard of the 100 years war? And how long did it last?

Indeed, I have, and it lasted for longer than 100 years. More like 114, or something like that.

-Sigh- The English Monarchy believed that they had significant blood relations with the French Royal family, and believed that the English should rule France as well as England. The '100' years war was a war that went on and off, as the different English Kings kept trying and trying to defeat the French, to which they almost suceeded.

So the English claimed the throne of France?

Indeed they did. Because they were invaded by Duke William of Normandy in 1066, and William had royal blood in him, they believed they had a good enough claim on the throne of France.

I always pass the time by holding up my pen-lid in front of my eye and trying to line it up so that it looks like the teacher is wearing a funny little hat.

Alternatively I find that constant doodling is good stuff too...

Yes, but firstly they wanted to have an Alliance with the British, but when that didn't happen, they cancelled trade & blocked trade with the UK. I think Napoleon is a pretty stubborn person.
