Does AO (or AP, or OP) count as a corner territory?
No they don't and the territory names make this clear.
I'll have to push back on this, one time - if the "center area" is considered an area together - similarly from the cutout of the maps, it certainly looks like AO, AP or OP would be considered a "corner territory" in that area. Maybe calling it AC/PC/OC would help? There must be something...
If the goal of a map legend is to provide clarity, it has confused at least one person! (me

) Granted - on this read through, I also noticed that, you mention the "3 corners" earlier on in the bombarding - that is a context clue, but one I missed and others might as well. Once you play it, it will make sense. But I think for greater adoption, maps should be clear before you play. I'll leave you to decide if my confusion is worth further clarity or not!

I'd like to see:
- count of troops on a territory
- auto deploys earned
- deploy bonuses
All shown in different ways in the maps' explanation.
I'm not sure what you are asking for here sorry.

(Additionally, if you guys have any sort of checklist for maps, I think this should be a rule for all maps so its thought about early in how to specify deploy and bonuses in the legend.)
Examples: "region with [6] or more troops", "will get (+1) added", and "The central white triangle is a bonus of +3"
I just did a count and there is about 2/5ths of the maps that specify a + on all of there bonuses and I don't think it is necessary to enforce it on all maps if none of the bonuses are negative.
Using [6] [2] [1] [3] [8] to all mean different things is odd to me. You use it to describe a count of territories, an auto deploy amount, and deploy bonus amounts. Clarifying with symbols, similar formatting, or icons are all a good way to distinguish between three important variables (territory count, auto deploy bonuses, deploy bonuses). The + helps signify when something is a bonus ("...triangles will get [+1] auto deploy" - "...central white triangle is a bonus of [+3]" or "[3] if you choose not to use brackets for counts) vs when you are counting territs ("...when you control a corner region with 6 or more..."). Any sort of differentiation could do, the + isn't as necessary if you aren't using [] on territory count explanations.
But having the context of if something is a bonus, an autodeploy, or simply counting based on the text preceeding means the [] don't provide any clarity/added benefit. It feels like you wanted to use [] to help the reader, but its not any different than just leaving the numbers as plain text since the [] don't mean anything or change what a number in the explanation represents.

Finally, on reading your response and the map again, I realized I misunderstood the white area - its not just W in the center that is +3.
I think you should change that text as follows
Original: "The central white triangle is a bonus of..."
To: "Holding all white territories is a bonus of..."
As the "central white triangle" could be misconstrued as the single territ.

The confusion of bonus types/territory counts/autodeploy bonuses is the most important part to me, in reading/scanning a map legend to understand it.
Going forward are there terms in the XML that I could use to reference this that would make more sense?
I'm really enjoying critiquing maps - hopefully I'm not being annoying - and I'd like to learn/standardize my terminology if it would be helpful.
