2) NO ground troops have been committed to this war (except those to rescue our downed airmen from the F-15), so there is NO "cannon fodder" unlike the Iranians used in their war vs. Iraq. Again, another BLUNDER by the silly, lying, self-loathing, and dung loving person called pack rat.
During the brutal Iran-Iraq War (1980–1988), thousands of Iranian children were sent to the front lines. Many volunteered after being influenced by state propaganda, religious ideology, and societal pressure.

Child Soldiers: The Untold Story of Iran-Iraq’s Frontline Children, is a documentary directed and produced by acclaimed Iranian director and actress Pegah Ahangarani for BBC Persian. Through deeply personal testimonies, former child soldiers share their untold stories, accompanied by previously unseen footage from the Iran-Iraq War. For the first time in four decades, they recount memories they have never shared, even with their own families.

The Iran-Iraq War, one of the longest and deadliest conflicts of the past century, not only claimed countless lives but also robbed thousands of children and adolescents of their innocence, thrusting them into the horrors of war.

and
AI Summary
To understand the impact of the Iran-Iraq War on children in Iran, consider the following points:

Many children were recruited as soldiers, often with little choice.
Propaganda portrayed war as a noble duty, influencing youth participation.
Children faced severe psychological trauma from witnessing violence.
The war disrupted education, with schools often closed or destroyed.
Families suffered economic hardships, affecting children's well-being.
Child casualties were significant, leading to a generation marked by loss.
AND, Here are even more details of the children used as REAL cannon fodder by the EVIL Iranian "leaders."
Iran’s sickening use of child soldiers
U.S. and Western moral values and Iran’s embrace of child martyrdom are clearly incompatible.

Is the diplomatic option viable when dealing with Iran’s ayatollahs, who since 1979 have promoted child martyrdom in their school curriculum and on the battlefield?

Brainwashing children into martyrdom is presented by the ayatollahs as an extension of the Shia mythology surrounding the 680 CE Battle of Karbala, which was the Big Bang of the Sunni-Shia conflict and a model for martyrdom. During the battle, Hussain ibn Ali, the third Shia Imam and grandson of Muhammad, and his warriors—including children—were betrayed and massacred by the Sunni Caliph Yazid.

Using children for martyrdom purposes was commonplace during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq War, during which children were used for mine-sweeping and other suicide missions.

According to the Geneva-based Refworld, an arm of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, “[Iranian] child soldiers, some as young as nine, were used extensively during the Iran-Iraq war. … They were given ‘keys to paradise’ and promised that they would go directly to heaven if they died as martyrs against the Iraqi enemy.”

Where is the pack rat, to denounce these evil men exploiting children? He is defending the Iranian "leaders" the leaders of evil. What a silly and self-loathing rat-like and utterly DESPICABLE hypocritical person HE IS.

Generally speaking, it is, but only if you invest in it.

Trump so far has only been pillaging the U.S. military's stockpile of munitions to fuel his war of aggression against Iran. It would be inflationary if he was actually building munitions to replace those stockpiles, but since he is just using them up and has no intention of refilling the larder, it isn't. At least, not yet.

US-Canada trade talks collapse as new 50% tariffs go into effect

Over two weeks of trade talks between the US and Canada collapsed late Friday with the Trump administration moving forward on 50% tariffs on an array of Canadian goods and Canada saying it would match the new duties "dollar for dollar."

It was a sharp and sudden negative turn in the talks just hours after President Trump told reporters late Friday afternoon that negotiators had "pretty much" struck a deal, even as the talks continued to labor over a series of complex issues.

What it means for now is that Trump has moved forward with new tariffs on a range of Canadian goods in response to what the US claims are discriminatory trade practices around automobiles, alcohol, and dairy products.

The new tariffs will impose 50% duties and are set to impact about $28 billion worth of goods exported from Canada, from wine to hockey sticks to cement, and cover about 5% of what Canada exported to the US last year.
https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/artic ... p_catchall

I am quite frankly tired of Trump "negotiating via media" and not DELIVERING. This is true of these trade talks, Iran, and other issues. One day UP, the very next DAY DOWN and the day after that the talks COLLAPSE with threats of impending DOOM. Canadian trade does not impact me (I do not buy hockey sticks, for example); except for spending on War and Human suffering, deaths, and injuries, Iran does not directly impact me. I do not need to know all those details every few hours on news media.

I have been hearing of Canadian trade talks (on and off) since the start of his Second Term. And Iran has been in the news nearly DAILY for the past 6+ months. We are NOWHERE near the peace needed and the end of the killings, injuries, and destruction of war. The President who avoided a war in his First Term is now in a WAR that is MUCH too long in his Second.

I really think regarding Iran:

1) It is difficult to know who is really in charge, since Trump took out the Iranian Leadership early on.

2) Their Iranian negotiators are playing games, and NOT serious about seeking peace.

3) Iran is hoping the pressure of the November mid-term elections will PRESSURE Trump into a bad deal.

4) The US is hoping the blockade of Iranian trade will cause Iran to capitulate; how did that work in Cuba?

5) Trump hoped that the US bombing would cause Iran to undergo a regime change by the people revolting and some of the Iranian inner circle would take out whatever Leaders were left. Who is LEFT?

6) Israel convinced Trump to bomb the nuclear sites, kill the leaders, and launch a wider attack.

7) I think the nuclear program suffered major setbacks, but, without a complete regime change, this war is basically POINTLESS as far as achieving US Goals.

Release of some information is fine, once in a while, but I am tired of the daily changes with NO overall change. This is part of the Trump "personality" of constant upheaval and constant news stream. My wife said she could take Trump for two years and after that he gets "on her nerves." I agree, and we are not at the two year mark, YET.

I will post my Iran comments elsewhere, too. DONE: Leave Iran Now!

California’s $20 fast‑food wage tied to unintended effects, study finds
March 31, 2026, 3:03 p.m. ET

The study, released late last year, suggests the landmark wage hike may be producing unintended consequences across the state’s fast‑food industry, including reduced worker hours, higher menu prices and growing pressure on franchise owners to cut costs or automate jobs. (...)
More info, source, and quotes below.
jusplay4fun wrote: Thu May 30, 2024 2:33 am As I stated earlier, the wage increase will take time to see its full impact and will have negative economic impact. And will this lead to MORE inflation? YES.

AND, how much is a fast food worker worth? I would argue to let the free market decide; the actions of CA government is NOT a free market action.
California’s Fast Food $20 Hour Wage Hike Leads To Almost 10,000 Job Losses
In a bold move that seemed aimed at improving the lives of fast food workers, California recently implemented a law raising the minimum wage for fast food employees to $20 per hour. The decision was celebrated by many as a victory for labor rights and economic justice. However, the unintended consequences of this wage hike are now becoming apparent, with nearly 10,000 jobs lost in the fast food industry alone.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets ... 13#image=1
Chick-fil-A
California's raise in fast-food worker salaries has influenced consumer prices, with Chick-fil-A notably increasing prices by 10% statewide.

Price hikes
Other fast-food chains like Starbucks, Shake Shack, Chipotle, and Taco Bell have also implemented substantial price hikes. The California Restaurant Association cautions against further raises in the state minimum wage, emphasizing the potential negative impact on businesses.

Job losses
In a statement, the California Restaurant Association said, "Daily headlines have chronicled job losses, reduced working hours, restaurant closures, and higher prices for California's inflation-weary consumers as a direct result of this minimum wage hike."

A better wage
Saru Jayaraman from One Fair Wage said, "Non-fast food restaurant workers are saying, 'What about us? We, too, we deserve to be paid $20 an hour, too. We shouldn't all have to go to fast food to get a better wage.'"

The implementation
The implementation of the $20 minimum wage in California has been accompanied by a wave of job cuts in fast-food establishments, with approximately 9,500 jobs being eliminated between last fall and January.

Labor costs
The substantial increase in labor costs has compelled many fast-food chains to reevaluate their operational strategies, leading to widespread price escalations and the expedited deployment of automation technologies, such as robotics, to mitigate the impact of soaring labor expenses.

Notable franchises
Notable franchises, including Pizza Hut, Round Table Pizza, El Pollo Loco, and Jack in the Box, have initiated workforce reductions and the integration of automation solutions in response to the new wage mandate.

Competitive landscape
Moreover, concerns have emerged regarding the competitive landscape, as California's fast food now boasts the highest prices in the country, prompting apprehensions about the sustainability of further price escalations and their impact on consumer behavior.

higher wages created a greater interest in fast food jobs, the higher labor costs for businesses are creating less demand for workers, the report found.

Between October 2023 to October 2024, for instance, one of Burger King's locations reported a more than 21% decline in shift work for employees, according to the team’s research.

“Some locations partially restored hours by 2025, but labor-hour levels remained reduced from those measured in 2023,” researchers said.

At the same time, 18 McDonald’s locations in the Central Valleys saw workers’ hours decline by “nearly 12% across 12-month periods from April 2023 to March 2025, equivalent to a loss of 62 full time jobs for a year,” the study found.

Some people cannot grasp a concept beyond the headlines.

Speaking of money badly spent, in my state of VA:
Why Virginia’s “Affordability” Policies Will Backfire

Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger’s plan amounts to a series of expensive mandates that will drive costs higher.

But despite her focus on affordability, Spanberger’s plan amounts to a series of expensive mandates that will drive costs higher. Spanberger has provided a disquieting preview of progressives’ affordability agendas elsewhere.

Most of Spanberger’s proposals would drive up expenses for one group of consumers in order to benefit another group deemed more deserving—what economists call “cross-subsidization.” For example, Spanberger supports a bill that will ban health insurers from charging higher premiums to smokers. This will almost certainly raise costs for nonsmokers—as outgoing governor Glenn Youngkin noted in vetoing the bill last year.
and more great "savings" all in the name of "AFFORDABILITY"
Whatever the reason for such a proposal, it can't be affordability.

On energy, Spanberger tries to align progressives’ climate obsessions with the concerns of electricity-cost-burdened households. But one of the main causes of higher electricity prices in Virginia is the state’s Clean Economy Act, passed in 2020. The law requires the states’ utilities to be carbon-free within two decades. Dominion Power last year said that it would need to charge ratepayers $220 billion—about $25,000 for every man, woman, and child in the state—to pay for the long-term costs of renewable energy “certificates” to meet the mandates.

Nonetheless, Spanberger wants to go deeper with expensive climate demands. She supports a bill that would require more battery storage to backstop unreliable renewable power sources. Ratepayers will ultimately have to pay these storage costs.

(...)
Most of Spanberger’s affordability plans force average citizens to subsidize other groups, such as climate companies and smokers, through their regular purchases. Some of her plans would use government funds to subsidize consumers in general. Such subsidies drive up demand, and therefore costs, while also burdening taxpayers. For example, Spanberger wants to use Virginia tax dollars to underwrite health-insurance premiums on the Obamacare marketplace. Recent evidence shows that those subsidies, which Congress refused to extend last year, were riddled with fraud. One report found almost five times more low-income subsidy recipients in Florida than would be eligible for the program.
