Ilhan Omar is being investigated for FRAUD: Money, immigration, citizenship status

first, something funny:
https://www.instagram.com/reel/Deh7HNrB ... topic_grid

Now for NEWS:
U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar will move out of her Washington, D.C., home that federal agents searched last week, she said Wednesday, noting that attention brought on by the raid has made her feel unsafe there.

Federal authorities are investigating potential fraud in her family's immigration paperwork and have issued grand jury subpoenas to some of her relatives, a person briefed on the investigation told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss an ongoing investigation.

Omar, who was born in Somalia and is a naturalized U.S. citizen, said Wednesday in her first interview since the search that she is "confident in the fact that I didn't do anything wrong."

Is this a legitimate investigation, or is the Trump Administration seeking to attack political opponents?

DNA Evidence in Ilhan Omar Fraud Probe Could Show Congresswoman Married Her Brother

Federal investigators have reportedly obtained DNA evidence as part of an investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar, and the news has revived a years-old allegation: that the Minnesota Democrat married her own brother to help him secure a green card. The claim has never been proven, and Omar has consistently denied it.

On Monday, October 19, an unnamed source told the New York Post that the 44-year-old congresswoman's DNA is "crucial evidence" in a possible immigration-fraud case. The Post's account relied on anonymous sourcing, and no charges have been announced.

Omar married British citizen Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009, and they divorced in 2017. Critics have long pointed out that her father, Nur Omar Mohamed, has also used the name Nur Said Elmi Mohamed, which closely resembles her 41-year-old ex-husband's name.

Rep. Ilhan Omar investigated in DC, Minnesota over inflating net worth, immigration fraud: sources

WASHINGTON — Rep. Ilhan Omar is the target of at least two federal investigations related to possible immigration fraud and inflation of her net worth by tens of millions of dollars in House disclosure forms, according to sources familiar with the probes and an administration official.

DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro confirmed Tuesday on Fox News’ “America Reports” that “there are several investigations going on” related to the Minnesota Democrat, adding that potential civil or criminal immigration violations as well as Omar’s claim of being worth up to $30 million were also under scrutiny.

Sources familiar with the cases disclosed that the Minnesota US Attorney’s Office was leading the probe into alleged immigration fraud, possibly involving false statements about Omar’s birth date, while Pirro’s office in DC was taking on the inquiry into the finances of Omar and her husband, Tim Mynett.

To answer the original question: sulk.

It's behind a pay-wall, but you only need to see the headline.
The fact that Alfred Nobel was Swedish doesn't seem to matter to him - or the fact that Trump does not deserve the peace prize for starting more wars.

I believe you chaps over there are having something called "mid-terms".
What would be:
a) a good result for Trump
b) the best he could have hoped for in the circumstances
c) the sort of result that would have him claiming that someone interfered or cheated?

c) the sort of result that would have him claiming that someone interfered or cheated?

In the US there are 100 senators (2 for each state) and 435 house of representative members (the number is static, but every 10 years during the census the amount of seats given to any single state change based on population shifts). When you hear about 'gerrymandering' in the US, it's always about the house not the senate and if a given state has 40 house seats they decide as a state how to split their state into 40 districts.

House members are up for re-election every 2 years, senators every 6 years. That means during the midterms 435 house seats, and 33 senate seats(sometimes more if there are people retiring early or dead or whatever) come up.

After the 2024 elections the balance of power was republican control of POTUS, House 220-215 and the senate 53-47.

The 'smart money' early believed he would keep the senate but was at risk of potentially losing control of the house. Generally whoever is in power pisses some people off and does worse in the election 2 years after they assume the mantle of president so at the very least it was expected the size of their majority would shrink even if they still held control.

Over the last 12 months we've gone from the house leaning likely democrat in this election, to the house almost certainly going democrat and the senate now predicted to be in democrat control after this election. You can see this shift most clearly (and apolitically) by looking at the charts (covering the last 20 months or so) on kalshi or polymarket.

to answer your question directly...
A) A great result for Trump would be keeping republican control of house and senate
B) The best result that is realistically still on the table if his party outperforms prediction market expectations would be lose the house, but keep the senate
C) He is likely to at least verbally claim interference/cheating even if result A happens... because he always claims the other side cheated, it's effectively part of his platform since he got into politics over a decade ago.

Catastrophic loss (democrats take a 2/3 majority in house and/or senate) is not a realistic possibility due to only 1/3 up the senate being up, and gerrymandering creating too many 'safe' districts for each party for swings that big to occur in a single election.

Hope this helps!

The final result appears to be 55-45 in the senate (technically, 53-45 + 2 independents who caucus with democrats), and around 265-170 with democrats taking both houses. Could end 56-44 as Mississippi of all places appears to be the last senate race still too close to call but the rep is ahead.

Margin of victory doesn't mean a whole lot in the house (unless it's 2/3), but in the senate 10 seates is a meaningful difference as it takes alot of power away from a few fence sitting senators.

It will be reported as a landslide, particularly because many senate seats won by democrats came in states where trump won by 10+% in 2024 and have long been considered republican strongholds. (Kansas, Texas, Iowa, South Carolina ect)

Republicans lost some of the races in the primary by opting to go with 'trumps choices' rather than the republicans that had less baggage who maybe weren't willing to bend the knee to Trump. There were alot of really weak republican candidates this cycle, and Trump is unpopular for obvious reasons so I take this elections as a bit of a one-off and not a huge change in the US electorate that would be likely to repeat in 2028.

The big winner is NPR. They will get funded again.
Also, Canada, China and Iran. Mexico played it smart. Nothing can help Cuba unless Venezuela restores cheep oil.
Texas is likely to rewrite school funding. Removing our boom in private education.

Apparently, focus on his vanity.

https://www.cnn.com/2026/11/04/politics ... 8-campaign
President Donald Trump, meanwhile, relished what Interior Secretary Doug Burgum called “a day of celebration.” In his half-built White House ballroom, he watched the last beam rise to the roof like a sports team’s championship banner.

This bizarre contrast marked a turning point in the Trump era.

The president seemed unaware or indifferent that his fixation on a vanity project epitomized the apparent disregard for Americans’ cost-of-living pain that doomed the GOP in midterm elections. Oddly, as he chatted with reporters, he didn’t seem crestfallen over his party’s epic defeat. Instead, he seemed liberated — able to fully devote himself to constructing a physical legacy.

“Envision chandeliers all over here soon. Envision marble floor. Oh, it’s going to be beautiful. This will be the most beautiful building,” the president said.

Apparently, what he does now is obsess about preserving his legacy of tacky hideousness.

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/other/tr ... r-AA2gQTcM
On Thursday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order deeming the Oval Office a national monument, hoping to prevent future inhabitants of the White House from tearing down all the tacky gold stuff he's put everywhere. The move comes two days after the country dealt his party a staggering midterm defeat, largely because voters think the president prioritizes his vanity projects over the needs of the country.

Most Americans do not care (or care LITTLE, check the Polls) what the Oval Office looks like.

What they care about is the price of gasoline and ground beef (and other groceries) and other things they buy. To quote someone who knows, "It's the Economy, stupid." Trump got blamed for high fuel prices (probably correctly) and economic upheaval; he and the Republicans "Paid the Price at the Polls" this November.
