I have many observations about this thread.....but first and foremost....where the hell did I set down my beer eh?
Just so some of the more uneducated know: the temp in Toronto right now is above 90 I would imagine....Montreal too.....And .....ah screw it....there's just tooooooooo many things to correct in this thread...I guess I could start with.......oh ........wait......there's my beer eh.......

ergh. the people who keep quoting what i said about canadians descended from the french, later i clarified my statement. i meant that SOME canadians are in some geographical areas, and the americans have a lot of different ancestors also.

I have no idea what you're talking about... At my school, there are more Asians and Europeans (other than British Isles and France) than there are British Isles and French.

haha, I love how the US and Canada fight in the South Park movie. We were pwning you guys with our human wall. lol. 90 degrees is cold in comparison to where I am right now in Nor Cal. Where it's about 105 to 110 during the middle of the summer... Another difference is you guys use the metric system. I still don't know why we don't use it as well, since it makes much more sense than the random ass measurings we use. For instance, freezing point... 0 degrees makes sense right? but nope we use 32. lol. ahhh, but it is our differnces and eccentrities that make us great I have to give you guys props for hockey too... Anyone that can skate like made on ice, while having huge ass guys try to knock you out, and trying to get a tiny little fucking puck into a net, has my respect.

Jack is Bourbon, not "true" Whiskey. Don't get me wrong, its great stuff (I'm particularly fond of the green label), but its not whiskey.
The Scots make the best whisky (IMHO, of course), but don't go to Scotland and order a Scotch.....

Well, most Americans actually really truly DO think that the British Isles are all the same country.

And there's nothing wrong with that. There's no reason why a well-rounded, educated non-British person needs to know exactly how the British Isles work. Jesus, life's too short. All you need to know is that everyone speaks some mangled form of English, and some of the men wear skirts.

That's why I was too scared to actually start it. The last time someone started a mildly controversial thread on Britain, it turned into a nationalistic flame-war quicker than you can say "the Irish have a over-keen sense of victimhood."

Generally it's beer crap commercial lager, or rye whiskey in Canada.

Canadians think their crap commercial beer is better but it's just different very slight higher alcohol, and you like what you're used to.

Appearently rye takes longer to make and did not recover from prohabition thus it's not popular in the US.

I think most Canadians love their beer. Almost everyone I know considers themselves a connoisseur.

I brew just about everything except what would lie in the "lager" category. That is, beers which require cold conditioning. Lagers, pilseners, oktoberfests, bocks..... to name a few.
They require basically a dedicated refrigerator which I haven't aquired yet.
Right now I have in the bottle some American IPA, a Strong Scotch Ale, an Arrogant Bastard clone http://www.arrogantbastard.com/, a Kölsch, and a Bavarian Hefeweizen.
