No, you don't say? Take a number and wait in line please. The "I can prove God doesn't exist" line is quite lengthy.

and I have a suspicion that it has been explained to you a hundred times and a hundred more times will not sway you.

Why are you so set on changing someone's beliefs? Let them believe what they want to, why should it bother you? If they find peace in the belief of Jesus Christ, then let them. The same goes to you; If you find peace in something different from others, then believe that.

I have a lot of respect for many religious people just because they can counter-argue and still hold truth to their belief, whilst not shoving it down someone's throat.

You make it sound like it's only religious people who shove beliefs down other people's throats - I've met several atheists who are so convinced of the danger religion poses to humanity that it's their personal crusade to dissuade believers from their faith.

Probably so, but I didn't mean it that way. Athiests have a belief that there is no god, that's pretty weird though. So I was meaning anyone that has a belief, which is everyone. Everyone has a belief in one thing or another.

And I was just telling him to f*ck off and get his anal-injuiced head out of here cause he was trying to stop people believing what they believe.

1) What is "injuiced"?

2) I'm not going anywhere anytime soon so grab a Snickers.

3) I'm not trying to get people to stop believing what they believe (btw I don't see you complaining about atheists "trying to persuade" me there is no God) I'm offering one side of a debate (usually in a debate there are at least two sides) This thread was set up for debate....perhaps you took a wrong turn somewhere and accidentally ended up here....understandable.

Actually Jay, I believe Skittles was in fact talking about Iliad, and not you.

Your demand assumes that you would be able to survive the experience.

Once again, if you're not convinced by the life of Jesus Christ and the miracles that he performed, plus his resurrection, then why would anything else convince you.

I know, I know....The Bible isn't a credible source, but Charles Darwin is.

it think this whole thread is pointless.

here are the reasons:

1. if u're believer it's natural you think He exist
2. if u're atheist why bother discussing about nothing
3. neither are capable to prove their point since from faith's angle people are too limited and small to experience god - that's why it's called faith, you must believe in something without evidence and atheist cannot prove existance of nothing.

so we come down to believers trying to convert atheist and vice verse (just not with swords and fire this time)

i say: "live and let live." person can good without being a believer and be bad even though is a believer (seen lots of those, hypocrites) so i say abandon this pointless crusade.both sides.respect other's choice of believing or not.

i try to believe in man - and think that was actually message of new testament. if we restore faith in man, believing in god or not becomes less important. and to start believing in man all we need to make a lot of effort - atheist and believers and then we can have heaven on earth instead of waiting for what to be after this life.

ps sorry if insulted someone with my earlier posts

Hi Simonov,

I agree with you that nobody is going to "convert" someone from the other side. What I think happened is that the title of this thread insulted those who don't believe God exists. Perhaps they felt that logic and rationalism were their sole domain...I don't know, it's a guess.

I don't think that the main issue here is logic, but rather a willful choice.

But the person who started it obviously didn't think it was pointless, and doesn't agree with "live and let live" - Christianity wouldn't survive with that philosophy. Which means, despite your conciliatory tone, you're in disagreement with him. And adding to this pointless thread.

Hey all, first time poster, looooooonnnnnnnnnggggggggg time reader. I don't generally get in to the God debate. If you believe, good for you. If you don't, good for you.

I have some problems with the evangelical Christian belief that you must accept Jesus Christ to be welcomed into God's kingdom. Or words to that effect. My problem is this, currently, today, there are cultures cut off from the rest of the world. No access to the bible, or to Christians generally. Those people know what they are taught, and it is not about accepting Christ as saviour. So, by the standard of accepting Jesus Christ as saviour, they will not get into heaven, but will be left with hell on earth. Is that right? Unlike me, or whomever, they have not made a choice, in fact no choice was available, they did not even know the possibility. Did God really plan that? Has he placed these poor people without hope on purpose? Do they get a pass because they didn't know any better?

Christianity is a geographical belief. Yes, it is spreading, but 2000 years ago, when the Romans were crucifying Christ, as the story goes, the rest of the world didn't even know that was happening. Australians, South Americans, Far East Asians, North Americans didn't have a clue this was going on. So, as those folks died over the next, conservatively, several hundred years without knowing about Christ, and therefore not being able to accept his gift, were they doomed to hell? Seems odd that God would favour so heavily by geography alone.

If this has been posted before, I apologize, it is a very long thread.

They are not hypocrites just people trying thier best. We are all human, and none of us are trying to prove that we are as perfect as Jesus was. That is why the good news is so awesome, no matter what you have done in your life Jesus will ALWAYS forgive you when you turn to him.
