Btw, SOAD might be very light metal, but when I think metal I think Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, listen to them and tell me if you'd still call SOAD metal. Genre means nothing though, most bands that stick exclusively to whatever genre they think they are always sound boring, its just a way for dumbasses to justify their taste in music by saying 'oh I only like bands from X' genre and then go on to listen to shitty bands based on their label. I'm thinking that the 'genre' style thinking is being pushed by record companies to increase profits despite backing shitty bands.

you just listed Heavy Metal bands. Soad is just Metal. okay on Wiki it says Alternative Metal so whatever, its still a branch of metal. That's the thing about metal, there are so many branches that if someone says "I listen to metal" its not a stereotype because the word "metal" covers so many types of music.
