Best players on cc below lieutenant rank

Post by rebelman »

Using the scoreboard to determine skill level gives a good indication but its not an exact science. I have played against some fine players below lieutenant rank all the ways down to cooks that can play well. With this in mind i'm wondering who people think are the best players below 1,800 pts. I'm going to nominate Amanda1 having played both with and against her in several games now i think her score significantly underestimates her skill level.
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

I played a No Cards RT with friendly1 the other night. He played an excellent game. Patient and planned moves well in advance.

I gotta nominate the person who introduced me to the site (and my "usual" doubles partner): DieForASandwich

He's never been ranked above 1600. But, whenever I'm in a game with him - he wins (beats the crud out of me, partners well). He's much better than me at No Cards. He's probably about even at Flat Rate. I don't think I've ever seen him play escalating - so I SHOULD have the edge there. He's definitely a Sequential Player.

I guess that raises an important question. Are we talking about a hypothetical situation where we would pit these players against each other at each of the different settings and see who comes out with the most points/wins? Because that would obviously handicap someone who doesn't play a particular turn style or fortification method or card level.

But I'd give my partner the nod in a Sequential, Flat, Chained game.

He's good at 4 player singles, to be fair, but I taught him everything (he was a cook at the time).

I nominate myself, most of you are too new to remember, but I was once in the top 40. I've just had bad dice ever since.

He's a lieutenant but I'll throw my vote in for Wacicha

One of the few "good" players who will play with (and train) new players - anyone who will risk their points as well as their armies is a better player than many :)

excellent choice although not sure if he really meets the criteria and last time i looked he was a captain but he may have dropped pts recently

I think DAZ is a good call, of those who I've played since I regard him as better than his rank. Same could be said for clapper.
