the bible also predicts that the middle east will burst into war

name me a time when it wasn't at war...

the bible has said that the desert will bloom before end times. did you see the national geographic mega structures thing with palm jumera in dubai

How does building tree-shaped islands have anything to do with a desert blooming? What has bloomed? And deserts are full of life anyway. The 'prediction' is redundant. You are mad.

People have been predicting this shit forever. Y2K, 9/11, yada yada yada. It is all bollocks. All of it. Absolute bollocks. We may well blow ourselves up, but that will be that, until the next species - third, after lizrads and apes - takes over the planet. Life goes on, and will do long after religion has died out.

It's pointless debating with fundamentalists Mr. Cola.

At the end. They were reforming parts of the desert to the north. For people to live there more easily. Reservoirs are all over. People are moving to the desert. It is becoming easier. It is blooming.

He never claimed anything else? Have you EVER read the Bible? He claimed quite a bit else! And many of the following books happen immediately after. Not "2-3 centuries after his death." Jesus is God, God is Jesus. The Holy Spirit. They are all one. Trinity. Three in one. That is not hard to understand. The REASON Jesus was chased by Jewish authorities was because he CLAIMED (and was correct, because Jesus was divine) he was the Messiah, that he was God. He did indeed claim that. Because he was. And always will be. And try to dismiss my previous quotes from Christian books. You can't. It's not hard to wrap your mind around the concept of there being a God. There must be a purpose to life. Non-Christians and non-religious people always ask What is the meaning of life? Why am I here? It's because WE WERE MADE to worship God. Then sin got in the way. Then god sent Jesus, who was divine, to cleanse our sins so we could spend eternity in heaven. It makes perfect sense.

Geez, I was expecting something better than an "he is because he is" argument. Fundamentalists don't understand that "because I said so" is not a strong argument.

Theres a few things that dont seem to make sense when I try to think of an all powerful being that created the universe. Why would this God fellow decide on making a universe filled with billions upon billions of stars and planets, if the only people He cares about are on one single planet?

Seems like a big waste. Maybe the other galaxies where just for practice? I'd like to know a believers explanation.

i don't remember the exact words, but louie giglio's indescribable sermon covers it pretty well. Space is to assure us of the awesome power of God. Theres much more to the subject, but that's basically it and right now i feel too lazy to post it :P

interesting explanation, but why would He bother creating so many stars/planets that can't even be observed? Only a very small fraction actually serve the purpose of showing off his power. The rest are just sitting there.

god was made when the first person said "God what was that" and like a story being told from person to person, got way out of control over the years.

its helps peoples minds thinking that something is controlling the unknown. why it rained , why there was a flood, fire ect. , ohh yea its a reason for war too, more war than there shouldve been and there more war to come because of it....see god does kill people hmmmm

and it makes people want to live life thinking they are going somewhere when they are 6 feet under.

personally i would like to think there is one, but i really doubt it. Although Hugh Hefner might be god , i dont know......morgan freeman played a pretty good god.

(wow it was sunny when i started this , and now its thudering and windy here ummmmmmmm.)

and as to the reason we are here. we are here to have sex and keep the human race alive and kicking , like all the other animals on earth. If you want a more intersting answer to this , we are here not for us but for our children to make life , and the world a an easier and safer place, obviously religion is getting in the way of that right now, as it always has. But your legacy remains in memories that our children and grandchildren have of us, and thats the only eternal life.

but like capitalism, or democracy, in its purest form its probably ok but gets twisted and ruined by corrupt people which on the whole ruins it.

For one to say, in essence, that the creation of the universe isn't that impressive....ya its an ignorant statement.

Well put kwolff.

Jay - not if you don't believe in a creator. Stephen Hawking has already come up with a theory in which the universe contains within itself the explanations for and causes behind its own existence.

Put simply:

Consider cause and effect. We trace things backwards this way... and eventually we get to the big bang. Hawking asked, why bother going one step further than that - i.e. god - if it's not necessary? Occam's razor, sort of. Backed up with an impenetrably clever theory as to why taht might be the case. I'm not sayign it's right - because i have trouble even adding up - but you have to admit, it's intriguing.

And for the record, i get that numinous feelign every time i think about the universe and our place in it. It is as close as i think i get to a religious experience. But I am not impressed with it, because that implies a round of applause for its creator.

You of course know that the big bang theory is the most idiotic theory ever thought up by mankind that is considered "science."

Throw everything you've got about how it's "proven" and "scientific" and how there's "evidence" like radiation in space or whatever and I'll answer you.

Here it comes... 8)

Give you scientific evidence? Prove it? If these are not enough to answer your questions, how the f*ck did you ever learn anything?
