Indeed. How many different versions of the Bible are there? Each one tweaks the language ever so slightly.

They can't all be right.

Was it Joshua who said "If a trumpet make an uncertain sound, it will not be heard?"

I mean that many readers assume things that weren't included at all, like the rapture, the seven deadly sins, etc.

Can you read Hebrew or Greek? Can the average Christian?

Since this document is infallible, each English translation should be the same thing. If it isn't, then why do we keep releasing new translations?

Which translation is the right translation? Why should we trust that assessment?

Different generations. Even with translations of Karl Marx you see varieties, so the difference in Bible versions is not surprising in the least.

Keep in mind how few people speak aramaic, especially the old versions.

at some point in time i'm going to make a thread in which i reveal all about this guy known as unriggable. It will include pictures, video, hilarious quotes, and undeniable proof that he is among the most outragous hypocritical person in the world.

Furthermore, Seeing difference of opinion is not exactly what you've been doing so far in this thread, if I may say so?

Unriggable, I have to issue you a warning on a rule violation. Section 5456, Paragraph 24: "Referring to someone online as their real name."

Be careful, even if everyone knows their name, you must refer to them as their username at all times on the Internet.

Concerning this info footage bullshit, you have no idea what I have on you.
Speaking of hypocrisy, I remind you that you are one of the most demanding people I know yet so far you've been unable to so much as look for a job. And here you are, talking about how much of a loser I am.

Furthermore, Seeing difference of opinion is not exactly what you've been doing so far in this thread, if I may say so?

It's easier to critique an argument than make one.

BTW About two minutes ago you sent me an AIM message concerning how good I am at arguing, then proceeded to log off instantly. You really are good at arguing, with your refusal for hearing a rebuttal.

Backglass wrote:You would be wrong again on both counts. Don't hate normal christians. I do hate those who feel they are above everyone else and must force their religion upon the masses in public places I pay for however.

No, I would be right. He specifically identified us as the ones he wanted to have a conversation with. You butted in and tried to interrupt. I guess the idea of having one more Christian in the world just upsets you and you can't help yourself.

Backglass wrote:Nice contradiction. "I'm not in your face, HOWEVER I will do it anywhere I damn well please".

Nice how you define my practicing my own religion as in your face.

Backglass wrote:In your rage you have once again missed my point. I DON'T CARE what you do on your own. Go to the park, sit under a tree and pray all day. Fine by me, your not bothering anyone. But when you want to STOP SCHOOL to pray or put your artifacts up in a taxpayer paid building, that's not you going about your business. Thats putting it in every non-christians face because you are holier than though and yes...I hate that.

Yeah Yeah. When you make fun of us it's humor. When we hit back it's rage. I've never had the power to stop a school from functioning so it can start praying. I think you make some wild assumptions about Christians by labeling us Holier-Than-Thou. Every Christian is positionally just like anyone else except that they've admitted that they need to be forgiven for their sins.

Backglass wrote:You went to the jay_a2j school of debate didn't you. I "hate gods" because I don't think they exist. I am also a Fairy and Centaur hater by your standards. And those damn Leprechauns! HATE THEM!

Seriously this is a very common christian preaching. "Atheists don't believe in god so they must be very angry, hate filled people who are nothing like us! They are out to get you with their hate!!." Of course, that's not true. I am a normal American just like you...I just don't believe gods exist.

Ah! character assassination by association since you have no real foot to stand on. I don't think you're hateful because you don't believe like me. I think you're hateful based on your posts and insults. If someone doesn't share your beliefs then you make fun of them. When someone calls you on it because they're sick and tired of it you throw up your hands, "Who me?"

Backglass wrote:Your so funny. Now Atheists hate free speech? Pot, meet kettle! NEWS FLASH: Stopping a public, tax-payer funded high school football game in order to perform a religious ritual is NOT free speech. I must have missed that part of the constitution. I also have no problem with Mormons knocking on my door or jews holding meetings. They are not forcing my kids to listen or placing the star of david on the courthouse lawn. Those kind of actions seem to be above them.

Yuck Yuck Har-dee-har-har. Pot meet kettle! I have no point so I'll make an insulting joke!

Whatever Backglass. You must have also missed the part of the constitution which guarantees religious liberties (psst - it's in the Bill of Rights part). I guess you also hate the Declaration of Indpendence which guarantees our rights which are endowed to us by OUR CREATOR! Ouch, that's gotta hurt. The Creator mentioned in a founding public government document.

Backglass wrote:Oh really? I guess the "take back america" emails that constantly circulate from the christian community are just jokes? What a lovely piece, just filled with "love your neighbor" christian joy. I would also bet a thousand dollars you will copy it and email it to everyone you know because it reads exactly like your posts.

That's between you and the people that send you those emails. But it's a nice attempt to get the attention of your sarcastic sermons.

Backglass wrote:I'm sorry, but I am not Ron Reagan Jr. Not sure why you think that I am.

You get the point and you're avoiding it. People are religious by nature. Atheism is just one more attempt at trying to explain why we're all here and our purpose. It's not the same as major religions but it still seeks to understand why and living a life according to that belief.

Backglass wrote:Oh, very mature. You really showed me!

Sort of like your anti-Christian posts.

Backglass wrote:Then why did you bring up christian hospital and orphanages in the first place? Neither have the slightest bit to do with the debate here...it was just your feeble attempt to bolster your position by playing the "do-gooder" card.

To counter your point of saying that we're in your face. You act like we're coming over to your house and pinning you down and then shouting "CONVERT, CONVERT" and then praying in your living room when nothing of the sort is going on. We do accomplish other things in life, such as charity work and service. You tried to change the subject by claiming that I said we have a monopoly on good deeds when you know darn well I never said that.

Backglass wrote:Well we all know christians are never smug. ;)

No, but we know that atheists don't like it when their own smugness is thrown back at them.

Backglass wrote:Well you fear the fact I don't believe in gods so much you don't really believe anything I say so it's no surprise. No...in fact I have never uttered the word "atheist" in front of my kids. We simply aren't a religious family and don't discuss matter of religion at all. No Zeal, no hatred...we just don't talk about it. There are many more worthwhile things to talk about with my kids than two thousand year old superstitions in my opinion.

By NOT praying that sends just as much of a message to your kids as if someone DID pray in front of theirs. Inaction sends just as much of a message as action. It shows you don't think it's important and believe me - your kids will pick up on that.

Backglass wrote:And your "cup runneth over" with christian love & understanding.

Different folks - different strokes. If I thought I could reason with you I would. Your track record of insults says that wouldn't work with you.

Backglass wrote:Now it's your turn.
  • Why do you feel the need to pray in public spaces as you have so defiantly said you would above?

Because if people like you ever become a majority in America then that option will be eliminated. Might as well do it while it's still legal.

Backglass wrote:Why must it be public?

It doesn't have to be. However, I like having the option like I said above. Right now people like you can't stop me so I think I'll continue to do it just to show you what freedom looks like.

Backglass wrote:Does your god require you to annoy people?

  • No. It just happens naturally when people like yourself get irrationally annoyed at the slightest practice of a belief system that isn't to your liking.

Backglass wrote:How exactly does NOT having commandments in a taxpayer paid public space diminish your faith and church?

  • I don't really object to not having the ten commandments on a public space. I do object to those who try to tear them down from where they already are. Why do you feel the need to suppress traditionally held religious views which have been the backbone of our liberties?

Backglass wrote:Why must school be stopped in order to pray?

I don't know of any schools that are being stopped in order to pray. I would think it's more appropriate to have an after-school program if that's what students want. And yes, if satanists, witches wanted to - go ahead and let them too. Even atheists should have that right to meet.

Backglass wrote:Can you not pray at the breakfast table?

Sure, even at lunch and dinner too. Can you?

Backglass wrote:What is the difference...I really want to know.I look forward to your answers Danger Boy.

I don't look forward to your next round of insulting hatred against Christians. Live & let live???? I'm so sure with you.
