Flame Wars isn't going anywhere, just face that fact and let this thread die. The Mod Squad has spoken on the issue and compromises have been reached; it's over.

Bumping a dead thread will do nothing but piss off the admins, not furthering your cause at all.

As the poll reveals, half of the people who post feel that FW should go. Not be modified, reigned in, or "fixed". If that pisses the admins off, they should ask themselves why 50% feel that way. They should fix the problem, not give grief to those who are pointing out the problems to them.

That's like saying "The sun is too bright so gouge out my eyeballs." Doesn't make any sense.

The admins serve the people who play here, and not the other way around.

No, what's you're saying is that the sun is too bright, so rather than wear sunglasses or heck, go inside out of the sun and play some CC, you'd rather stare at it until it goes away.

I love how you only highlight the 50% that don't approve of FW. The other 50% of people either like FW, or just don't care for it. I go in their sometimes, but not all the time. I said it before, if you don't like FW, THEN DONT GO IN!!!!!

Thats the crux of this whole argument, the fact that it's a voluntary action to enter that forum. You don't like FW? Fine, don't click the damn button. It's not rocket science...

Most of the anti-Flame Wars lot are nothing but moral crusaders with too much time on their hands and no real causes worth fighting for who's objectives don't run concurrent to their goals. Getting rid of FW isn't gonna make CC more 'family-friendly,' it's just gonna spill the refuse to the rest of the forums.

Also, asking for FW to be removed is one step closer to handing control over to Big Brother and total censorship. Once you start limiting your own freedoms (regardless of whether you use them or not), they begin to limit themselves. The more control we hand over, the more the powers-that-be will try and take.

Even if you don't like FW you still shouldn't want to see it abolished, the ramifications speak far more then the actual loss of a single "not-family-friendly" forum. Censorship sucks, when you start saying "this needs to go, that needs to be abolished" eventually we are going to start losing our choices with no say in the matter.

PhatJoey, I understand what you are trying to do and why; but your moral compass has been dropped too many times and no longer tells you which is the right direction to start walking.

Me neither. I don't feel the need to post fag-jokes and make "ur mom" insults, but there is no reason to get rid of flame wars.

Actually, I think most of them are the mommies who don't want children to be spoiled by seeing naughty words.

why would it piss the admins off by posting in a perfectly valid thread about a way some people believe would improve the site, i think it would do the opposite to ''pissing them off''.

I see. It's okay for YOU to tell me what is right . . . just as long as I don't try to tell you what is right.

Nowhere have I made suggestions, assumptions or judgements of those in FW. However, you feel that you are qualified to make those very same generalizations. Well my friend, you are not. Neither am I which is why I don't use them. Your need to insult people only proves that your argument lacks moral authority and you are forced to resort to the only argument you have left. (i.e. moral crusaders with too much time on their hands, your compass has been dropped, blah blah blah)

It ALREADY IS SPILLING OVER INTO THE OTHER FORUMS if you just look around you can see it everywhere. If it weren't allowed at all, and it were properly enforced, you would not see it period.

Once again I will say this . . . Free Speech does not give you the right to say whatever you want. I don't want to censor what they are saying, they should just go somewhere that it is appropriate and say it there. Create a blog or something, but keep it off a site that has a huge number of children visiting it. That is not censorship. That is just being responsible for their own actions.

actually it does, altho it might not be wise to speak your mouth sometimes, you are allowed to, otherwise it wouldn't be free speech, it's as simple as that.

and if those kids wanna flame, just let them, you don't have to read it, neither do your children have to read it.

and children get tought enough 'words' at school. my own brother whom is almost 6 years old now picked up a lot of words at his class form the other children, you can't stop children from picking up those words, they hear it everywhere anyways. and besides, words don't kill people, and trash talking even less, since trash talk goes directly into the trashcan, i can hurt a lot more people a lot harder with nice words really, so think again.

Really? Is that why you will be detained and face charges for even mentioning a bomb anywhere near an airplane these days? Or what about it being a felony to threaten the life of the President? Or what about the FCC giving television networks 6 or 7 figure fines for profanity or nudity (Janet Jackson - Super Bowl Halftime)? Or what about the jailtime you will face if you yell "Fire" in a crowded building? Or what about . . . the list goes on and on. Simply put, you cannot say whatever you want when it is irresponsible and MIGHT cause harm to others. If a kid stumbles into FW by accident, you cannot say that it isn't harmful. And please don't use the same old tired argument that parents should pay more attention. There isn't enough time in the day and too many places for kids to get online without their parents around.

All the examples you mention have the possibility to lead to bodily harm. Of COURSE you're going to get in trouble if you do such things. Free speech doesn't entitle you to harm other people with your words. It allows you to voice your opinion. Slander and libel 'cause harm to people, thus they are illegal. Yelling fire in a crowded building can lead to bodily harm, thus it is illegal. Writing a book about how we need to kill a certain group of people can lead to the harm of members of such group, thus it is illegal to publish such a book.

And look, this is ridiculous. Parents can watch over their kids internet activities. Schools have blocks on them. If a parent is really all that concerned about their childs internet activities, they'll even go to the library with them to make sure they don't go into Flame Wars and see all those nasty swear words! Face it; Flame Wars isn't that big of a deal, and it's much easier to find much worse stuff on the internet. If a parent thinks it is that big of a deal, then they can find ways to make sure their child never goes in there. That, along with thousands of other internet sites that would be inappropriate for their child to see.

The flame forum has to stay...Phat, just like your votes in the poll...a slim majority of the retards here in Ohio voted in two imbeciles, one as Pres. and the other as a Gov., and now everyone here is screwed...quit taking freedom away because you will not enjoy what comes after its gone.
