Really? It doesn't have to be eternal? Then when and how did it get here?

look. To fire a gun you only need a little time of discharge, same with this

Wrong...the gun exists and it was created someplace.

that's ridiculous response and you know it. Fine. I'll spell it out for you. The big bang only had to last a while for the universe to escape. A flash of lighting was all that was needed to trigger the primordial soup. And a little bit of knowledge is all YOU'LL need to understand this for a long time.

And, as we all know, "flashes of lightning" are commonplace in the presence of NOTHING!

A non-eternal flash that came from WHERE????? So, this flash appeared out of nowhere, caused the big bang and was gone, never to be heard from or seen again? Umm ok.....I don't have THAT MUCH FAITH!

you have a point. you just pointed out the one thing that doesn't make me an atheist. But, yes it was never seen or heard from again. The thing that bothers me is not the flash, but what caused it. However, i don't believe in you so called miracles.

Of course there are moral codes, it's just that we (humanity) have made them up ourselves.

So you think that you have to worship a supernatural being in order to have morals ? You will have noted that the Nebraska gunman was a church going Christian !

and in his head he was not doing anything wrong or evil...

evil is just a concept we created to punish people doing things we don't like. ex: mr. cat kills a mouse. is the cat evil? no, we praise the cat. but if the mice could talk i am sure they would say something different...

Why must there be? I don't see why one demands the other in any way.

This is the same BS line that Creationists use. "It is FAR to complex for us to understand, therefor it must have had a designer".

Again...you are reaching. In your mind morailty and religion MUST be hand in hand. This is false.

It is not a prerequisite to believe in fantasy creatures in order to live a moral life. Millions do it, every day.

True story.

If you'd like a real life example of a 'legal system', or 'code of laws' that exists without a 'law giver' (Or H.L.A. Hart's 'Rule of Recognition') then you need look no further than the current system of international law.

You ever do something and then feel real bad about it? I wonder what that is? If we just made the moral code up....how come sometimes we can feel things like regret?

Well, first I don't take science as the be all that ends all as some do. Also, I don't buy it. A gene for altruism? Remember now...some people believe in a "gay gene".

Because we've been taught to feel bad about it. Obv.

It's simple stuff Jay, people who are brought up without being told certain things are wrong don't feel regret when they do them. Children brought up by thieves don't feel regret when they steal, simple stuff.

Case in point: you've been brought up being told that homosexuality is wrong, so you'd feel regret if you had a homosexual encounter. A lot of people aren't brought up that way, so feel no regret at all when they have one.

Sorry to break it to you like this, but morality is a subjective thing that is all to do with our upbringing. People don't feel regret because God is tapping them on the shoulder and tutting disapprovingly... that's just you kidding yourself.

I'm afraid I don't take the  icon as the be all that ends all as some do. I don't buy it. Would you care to rationally or logically explain why the concept of a "gay gene" is in any way implausible?

Care to post a link?

While it may not be the best reason i dont see why a mutaiton or a ressesive trait may not lead to someone being gay, what is your alternate theory?
