Why not a space-map based on our solar system. 1,000 years in the future when humans have colonised it. (assuming we survive this long!)

It could work as follows... You have the various 'inhabitable' planets or moons e.g. Earth, Mars, Io, Titan etc... of various sizes. Each has a number of territories plus 2-3 orbital space-fleets. In terms of bonuses planets/moons = continents. Territories on the planet connect to each other plus the space-fleets of that planet. In turn space-fleets connect to any other space-fleet on the map.

Ty for the link! The graphics on that are pretty good but the layout is somewhat cramped, and perhaps confusing to navigate. Ok for seasoned players maybe.

I think it would be good to also have a more simple map, like 'classic' but in space.

Here is a quick sketch I did on paintbrush, just to give an idea. The white spots on planets represent where territories would go.The grey rectangles are orbital fleets, that also count as territories (see my post above). Note: territory on the gas-giants would infact be the moons rather than the planet surface.

*alternatively one could ditch the space fleets and just have designated space ports on each planet to allow access to and from.
