just wondering if this is a team building excercise or a test to see how well a fully private tournament can be run or if this is just another example of the rules not applying equally to all members of the CC Family... if this is the predecessor to private tournaments, what a cool addition to tournaments this is going to be! thank you...-0
p.s.-maybe this is to help the lower ranked mods learn how to play a little better so the mods have a better chance in whac-a-mod next time around!!!

It's an exception to the rule because it's meant to be a team building exercise. Since we have so many new faces, what better way to get to know eachother and learn to work better as a team then to play games together as a team!

I thought you all worked well as a team against us already.
GL and HF.

wait, some people don't speak penguin, let me translate, "we got busted!!!!" ha!!! still against the rules! perhaps if you had come out and stated this was going to happen before it occurred, this obvious and blatant infraction wouldn't be so epic or monumental... i fully expect the rule to be rewritten to allow the rest of us that would like to run private tournaments, the ability to run private tournaments... *cough*...-0

I would personally LOVE the ability to run private tournaments. However, there is a custom in the military known as "Rank Has It's Privileges"...I believe that probably applies here, given that lackattack does have THE rank.

It is a team building exercise, that's about the whole of it folks. Sorry to disappoint. The big turtle himself wanted the team to quickly get some games in as teammates with each other to strengthen team unity and communication and so this is how I chose to proceed.
Private clan tournaments with some sort of privileges system is still on the table for in the future. How long in the future I can't say but it has not been refused outright.

This would still work as a team-building exercise and comply with the rules you guys are supposed to enforce for everyone, if every opponent team was a non-mod team; then it would still be "50% open/not by special invitation."

i just think the rules should apply to all, especially those that enforce them... is that such a difficult concept to understand? don't make rules and unwritten rules which you enforce arbitrarily, when you have no intention of following them yourself. this is just another example of the rules not applying to everyone evenly. from continual flaming/baiting by mpjh within the forums to the mod squad running a private tournament, the rules are enforced arbitrarily...-0

you really aren't making a very good counter argument here... and neither have they... the rule still stands, and should be amended or the private tournaments should be implemented as soon as possible. it is something people have wanted for a very long time, and it has not been allowed.-0

I'm not sure they want to rewrite a rule that says, "No private tournaments are allowed unless you're a moderator, because we don't have to follow the rules we enforce for everyone else." But it would be more honest if they rewrote it that way.

would be helpful as a team building exercise for clans as well

Yup, that's exactly why clans want to do inter-clan tourneys.

what part of that do you not get this is HIS site and if he want to follow the rules he can if he feels somthing will help this site by him choosing to break the rules then he can after all this is HIS site not yours you think of these rules as somthing everone has to follow.well that is your mistake its his thing and he can do what he wants with it ok
In the military, they make CLEAR in the rulebooks, what the privileges are; and those things that are forbidden to any troops remain forbidden to military leaders.

The moderators are here to enforce and facilitate the rules that the admins make. This decision was made by the admins, and since they make the rules, they get to decide when exceptions are made. The Tournament Directors aren't breaking the tournament privileges rules. I agree that private tournaments should be allowed, but I also know there are logistical reasons along with lack's own plans for the site that are standing in the way of them coming at this time.
