 If you bump them back to 500, then they'll make another account that starts at 1000. I say, just bump them back to where you start -- 1000. Much simpler.

I can see your point, but If they keep more than one account active, they are again a multi and, I believe, will again be busted.

There are two motives for cheating:

1. Winning points
2. Play more games without paying for premium

The bottom line is that 99% of the players that get busted are trying to get points. I can't remember the last time somebody got busted for trying to play more games. Frankly, I think that it would be impossible to bust someone that just wanted to play more games. The reason they get busted is that, eventually, the temptation to join a game with their multi is too great. Which takes us back to motive #1.

I agree with all the opinions that have been posted. I also understand that Lack needs/ wants to create revenue for this site. That being said, I think that there is a happy medium that will satisfy the bank and the players. Not to mention that it will create a real deterrent for cheaters.

The only thing that will work is an automatic score reset to 1000 points and loss of premium. In the event that a cheater does not have premium then an automatic ban should be placed.

However, in both these instances, the condemned cheater should be given the chance to buy back premium and start again at 1000 points. If it were to happen again then the offender would receive a permanent ban.

These suggestions should satisfy all parties. Lack keeps receiving money to keep the site running and we get the satisfaction of exposing cheaters and seeing them go through the humiliation of a score reset.

I think that this is the perfect balance between justice and business.

I agree with everything you just posted, but I need to point out something. Since premium membership is something we paid for, I don't think they can just rescind it that easily. I think they would have to add something that we agree to in buying -- that breaking the rules can cause it to be taken away -- and then this would only apply to those who have bought or renewed their premium since the rule was in place. But I think that the point reset is all that is needed to deter cheaters. If any cheating, at all, results in a new-recruit score, then the risks outweigh potential gains, and cheating would be a lot less common.

What it comes down to to is cheating is cheating and should be dealt with. If it is easy or has little fear with what happens when getting caught then it will only stay coarse or get worse.

Think they can actually. Especially after looking at the warnings at the rules page...

You need to look at the rules. When you sign up you agree not to have multi accounts and to not indulge in secret alliances.

Multi accounts results in all bar one account being deactivated and the final one losing premium.

Repeat offenders can also be given a permanent ban!!

I think that the thrase RTFM springs to mind! :D

Excellent, well balanced and spot on post.

Thanks for taking the time to type that.

Hopefully this will be taken on board and implimented. The reason why so many cheat is because the punishments are not servre enough.

Points are the driving force for cheating. So take them away when they are caught. Simple!!

I think the reason people voted no is because the points would be taken away from the game completely. If all games with the player in became null and all points returned to owners it may persuade some people

usually people complain that too many extra points are in the system, from people who join, lose, then quit. So this would even balance that out.

Point inflation is there every time someone joins. When that someone is a multi of someone else the original person usually gains at the expense of other members. A score reset harms no-one other than the cheat. It will also give some sense of justice to those who have been 'mugged'.

And I think you are wrong about the 4. If they had any other reason than the fact they are cheats then they would post the reason they voted against on the suggestion. They wont because they are worried they will be looked at.

Ahoy Ahoy Delboy,

We've most surely noted the suggestion, as we know cheaters make for a crappy game experience. I know if this suggestion was to be used, a number of behind the scenes code would be have to be changed, so that would have to be evaluated first. Anyways, we'll be reviewing the topic over the next while.

Please continue discussion, and if you could, keep either the first post as the "most updated/running post" or some post in this topic, so makes for review eaiser by us, and all those that would like to continue the discussion. :D Thanks,

Thanks for the update. Nice to know that you are thinking about us as much as we are thinking about you!! :D

Having to review each case on the basis of 'how much did someone cheat' is a very imperfect method of punishment. It's open to appeal on a 'well he did this and you did not reset his score' basis. If the rule were 'get found guilty of cheating and you lose your points', then there is no ambiguity.

Individuals can still appeal a discission to find guilty but not the punishment it'sself. The vast majority of Cheats clearly have just one thing in mind, get more points and go up the ranks. Those with multi accounts to play more games get the ultimate punishment anyway. All accounts cancelled, main account busted to freemium.

It's win/win. You guys have less work and us paying customers get the satisfaction of seeing those who robbed us of points adequately punished for it.

Hey... andy told us to keep discussing. The official interest doesn't mean that we can stop talking now... in fact it means the opposite: we need to continue to show that there is support behind this.

I'm wondering... does anybody who remembers this entire thread, remember if there were any counter-arguments put up, at all?

The only real discussion was whether just resetting points was enough ... some want a bigger point loss, others want additional penalties of various sorts.

On that note, there is still a thread, with a (relatively new) poll, asking if folks want cheaters somehow labeled.

If interested, here is the link
