He looks like this homeless guy, Steve, who comes into the gas station early in the morning to beg for burnt coffee, stale doughnuts, and old, wrinkled hot dogs that had been rolling on the hot dog machine for ten or twelve hours...

Yeah as the historical figure that's probably as accurate as any could be (although I think that specific picture was based on a series of conjectural statements as nobody really knows what he looked like). The fact of the absence of information about his physical appearance is pretty well known though. It wasn't his striking appearance that drew people to him, but his words.
