So that brings us to:

Annoying Players:

* Sometimes you will find yourself in a game with an annoying player. If you do not like their comments in the chat or their playing style, you can add that player to your foe list. Once on the list, you will no longer have to read their comments, and they will not be able to join future games with you if you joined the game first. To modify your Foe (and Friends) List, check out the Friends and Foe Page.
* If a player's comments do not violate the rules posted below, then do not ask a moderator or administrator to intervene when a player annoys you. This includes curse words and foul language. They are allowed on this site and would be too difficult to moderate every one.
* After you are eliminated or the game ends, you will have the opportunity to rate your opponent. Use the ratings and up to 4 tags to describe your opponent and warn/encourage future participants.

Which won't apply since this will be a private game, and...

# Banter and some trash talking IS allowed in the Game Chats, so don't waste time complaining about that.
# You may not be used to hearing or reading those "four-letter words", but some people do and will use them. This isn't a reason to open a complaint about the player; just kindly ask them to stop or ignore them.

Which does apply.

Not a whole lot of sense being made here.

Also, lol.

Really, I'm just curious as to why a reason wasn't provided for locking the thread. The ones given don't make much sense to me. The most reasonable was that it should have been done in callouts, and was not appropriate for callouts, but that was not a reason given by a mod or admin.

The comments on flaming for the game chat and stuff, well that's what we do best. Simple as that. It's an all "Fuckhead" game, it's the point of having a bunch of people like that, to trash talk. We just want to have some fun.

If DM would like to discuss the issue further, we can definitely do so via PM, but I don't want to drag everything out into the Forum. DM (and others in similar positions) who have a prior history of numerous warnings and vacations have to sometimes face the consequences of their actions when posting in the open forum. Some things are better left for private usergroups, and some things are better left no posted at all as well. :)

That answer was almost as bad as Clapper not replying to my PM about her being a shit moderator. Kthxbai.

Night Strike, I believe they had already discussed that before your 'big boy attitude' (ie "I've got a badge and I'm the coolest boy in the block! YEAH") came along. Do try to keep up and stop sticking your head in the sand. :)

I replied to all of your pms skittles. Just because I don't give you the answers you want to hear does not make me a "shit" mod. That is just your personal opinion. Oh and back on topic.. this thread is not about me skittles, it is about whoever it was that locked Dm's thread.

No no Andy, I rather think not.

I'd rather you didn't try to dodge properly answering these questions by 'taking it to PMs'. I'd rather not just be fobbed off by platitudes in private, where nobody would be able to see you (and your whole team) fail to answer really simple questions about your decision making. I'd rather we avoided the usual CC tactic of 'stalling the issue till everybody forgets about it'.

In other words, I'd rather you all stopped desperately ducking and diving the question, and actually gave me a proper answer (though, props to Jpcloet for being the only man brave enough to have a go so far). Alternatively, if you can't give me a proper answer, then I'd rather we just dropped the ridiculous diversionary tactics for once, and you just admitted that an error occurred.

Basically: Screw the PM hanky-panky, if you (or whoever the mod was who did it) had a good reason for locking that thread , then surely you can just state it here and we can all be done with the issue. If you can point out to us why it was that the thread violated the guidelines, then we'll all be glad to understand and to let the issue drop.

We're really not unreasonable guys Andy; we're just not to keen on being the targets of arbitrary and capricious decisions by moderators who like to make up rules as they go along (as they appear to have done in this instance). We especially don't like it when those mods refuse to make themselves accountable and refuse to own up to being the decision-maker. And it really annoys us when those mods then refuse to answer our questions about their actions reasonably, instead choosing to make bland platitudinous deflections, false claims that an answer has already been given, and generally stalling the issue until it goes cold.

All we want is for you to either show us the clearly stated rule that applies in this instance, or to admit that somebody on the 'mod squad' screwed up and locked the thread for no good reason. Is a public apology for an obvious error that really too much to ask for?

AndyDufresne wrote:sDM (and others in similar positions) who have a prior history of numerous warnings and vacations have to sometimes face the consequences of their actions when posting in the open forum.

So, is that basically just a veiled and coy way of saying "you have upset us in the past DM, so now we treat you more harshly than we treat all of the other users... essentially meaning that the usual rules aren't the only ones that apply to you, and you also have to worry about an unseen plethora of extra 'just for DM' rules that we will also apply every now and then when we feel like punishing you, or when you scare us a little bit"?

Because that's how it sounds from here. Right or wrong?

Wrong? Fine... then explain to me in clear and simple English (not yet another meaningless ambiguous remark) what it is that you were actually trying to say.

AndyDufresne wrote:Some things are better left for private usergroups, and some things are better left no posted at all as well.

Well then how about you go write some guidelines that clearly indicate what those things are. Instead of just making it all up as you go along?

That way we'll be able to avoid these kind of ridiculous incidents in the future, and nobody will be able to accuse you of playing favourites and/or screwing up. Again.

PS. Also, do yourself a favour and quit with the ridiculous 'riddle-me-ree' style of platitudes that you insist on using when you're posting with your admin-hat on. They don't make you sound wise, they don't make you sound measured, they don't make you sound calm... they just make you sound like you're unable to make strong decisions on anything and are desperately trying to bullshit your way out of trouble.

Speak clearly and say what you mean. Then we'll all be able to actually resolve issues in the future, instead of just getting annoyed at the fact that we appear to be being moderated by incompetents who can't even properly answer simple questions..

Yep. Pure moderator pride.

Moderate as you please without making reference to the rules. Make error. Ignore all evidence of error. Refuse to admit own error. Refuse to apologise about error. Try to silence public discussion of error. Protect further injury to pride by Refusing to give straight answers to people who ask about error.

Just as soon as the other six sins show up, we'll be able to have a party of some kind.

i still don't see a valid answer for why the thread was locked or for the veiled threat at perma-banning DM for not breaking any rules of the forum with his thread. at least nothing valid that makes any sense... i see the same reasons that are routinely given that lack any real merit or bearing on the issue/question at hand. someone should just politely admit DM got the better of them, and that his thread was misunderstood, and that he is not dangerously on the edge of a perma-ban for being well within the forum/community guidelines with his clever thread. wait, that would be customer service... good customer service... hmmmm... i see the problem with what i am suggesting...

DM, just start a multi account and get a ban. then pay a fresh 25 for a new premium account with no history of bans, and you can be treated fairly. that seems to be the only way for those of us that have records, to get a fair shake... the tried, true and tired response of using your previous record against you for a warning for a current NON-OFFENSE seems to becoming S.O.P. for moderators around here. i was recently warned in live chat that i would be thrown out if i said anything off colour, due to my forum record. oddly enough, i have never even received a warning in live chat, and have been active in it since i first joined. there is no rhyme or reason to what is going on around here. you simply embarassed them by outsmarting them, and now are being threatened with a perma-ban for posting a funny thread, that anyone with above average reading comprehension would realize is well within the rules...-0

p.s.-i wont even mention how i was warned about a perma-ban for complaining about a racist comment directed towards me by another member within a thread, before the new bigotry guidelines were in place. it seems that racism is within my head, is my problem, and i can get a perma ban for being offended by racist comments directed at me.. all so interesting...

Please don't lie.

As for DM's thread being locked, it was completely irrational and stupid. And why isn't he just getting a clear answer of who locked it in the first place? The "family friendly" (seriously, how many -10 year olds do you think you have here?) approach the admin and mods (I believe they should be called "Badge Wearers: They're better than you" from now on) are going towards will eventually make many, many forum users leave. And I'm sure many of the moderators won't like that, because then they can't wear their beloved badge.

no innocents get harmed in these games, as NO innocents are allowed to join.

surely if you were at home and invited friends around for a laugh and said no kids allowed as they maybe offended, they would understand a few strong words maybe said in jest and not to take it too seriously.

you go to the pubs with a load of mates playing cards and lot of abuse is hurled about. this is a simular thing(except for the chance of NO physical violence). :D

i refer th ehonourable gentleman back to the answer i gave a moment ago... I imagine this is all about reputations, misunderstanding the first thread as pure trollary and then not being able to allow Mustard a victory.... due to most of the mods truly hating the virtual air he breathes.

.. But, and it's a very big but, i hope Andy realises that without Mustard and characters of intrigue and skulduggery, these forums truly are bollox.
Though a pain in your collective buts, i hope you can find it to see mischief as a necessary evil.

Dear Mr. Infallible,

The rhetorically sarcastic pitch of the question at hand is almost as inane as the kittenish mood you were in as you pressed submit. Clever as it may be you can't lead anyone to believe that you don't understand why you got your slap on the snout. You certainly would have been better off playing with a ball of yarn or lapping up some fresh milk. Run along now, you've got 1/9 lives left.

Looks like King Herpes is vying for the job of Moderator. How sickening!

I really don't like being called a FUCKHEAD, but I'll make an exception to this rule. Sign me up!

The Moderators need to know that some innocent fun [yes.it's harmless]
at making fun and throwing insults at each other, during game chat is fun.

DM's attempt to get "like-minded" players to join in a game and to have some lively conversation is hurting no one.

Moderators have a history of ganging up on certain individuals for the wrong reasons, this thread is no exception. Apparently, our anonymous Moderators get overly sensitive and certainly don't want anyone to criticize their GODLY POWERS. Yes, I've been banned a few times, once you're on THEIR RADAR and try to criticize a stupid decision by a Moderator, LOOK OUT!

So, tell me where in the fucking rules does it state that people who like to use humor and insults for entertainment in game chat, especially in a PRIVATE GAME, where everyone enjoys the banter, but nobody complains?
