When and how long, is meaningless. I log on every day with my first cup of coffee. I often do not log off, even though I am no longer at the computer.the.killing.44 wrote:Raskholnikov wrote:How do you know how he feels? Uh, no, he means that he can see when he logs on, for how long he on CC, etc. Of course, my post is meaningless because of my ageā¦
Yes I know, but that version is one hat photobucket messed up. I just through up a version that was not blurred out. I did not save a copy of that latest version and will have to just do it over. I have been working on it tonight a little. Will post it as soon as I can.Raskholnikov wrote:Hey Pork,
Actually this is the latest version we have:

You say you are only 15, and have the right to act immature. Trudat, but you do not have the right to disrespect your elders the way you do. I am old enough to be your grandfather. Please show just a little bit of respect, or if you can't, just leave me alone. Stop stalking and harassing me.
Would you say that this IS or IS NOT being respectful -AndyDufresne wrote:porkenbeans wrote:When and how long, is meaningless. I log on every day with my first cup of coffee. Respect should really have nothing to do with someone's age in the Foundry, be it old or young. Respect the work, the community, the suggestions, the concerns, etc.

This map still looks like a bodily organ to me. The clash between the dislodged landscape and the picture is probably causing that. I'm not sure if it is because both are on the same visual clarity level---or what. Though generally, I'm also not a big fan of dislodged landscapes to begin with---though some maps can make it work (Germany, USA Map Pack, Brazil). I think those maps work because the background enhances the map, instead of trying to compete with the map visually, which I have a feeling yours is trying to do. That overwhelming/overpowering notion.

yeah that was one of my favorite lines. Tactix seem to take it and go on to be a better map maker. Perhaps it could happen here.
So which is it, "have respect" or "disrespect works".the.killing.44 wrote:porkenbeans wrote:Why in the hell is this kind of thing allowed to continue ?
Just three posts later, mibi said this:mibi wrote:the.killing.44 wrote:"ā¦take this map back to the drawing board, take the drawing board back to Ikeaā¦"

So why is it "allowed to continue?" See bold: because it works. It may be blunt, but you need to grow tough skin and realize it is some of the best criticism you're going to get. mib was referring to the Citadel thread, where upon taking mib's post into consideration, Tack came back with a wildly better map that was worthy of quench.

Eh.. I sort of like them both. I'm not a fan of bevels on maps. And the photos built into the backgroun really make this map a bit cluttered. As others have suggested, remove all those little squiggily lines (rivers?).
Do your red impass lines represent some sort of district boundries? Or just random - beacuse why would you put one in that northern gray area? Which leads to - I was looking for the name of that northern gray area in the legend, but there is no gray name on the legend. Sort of strange using the territ name colors for bonus region names?.
Pork - I know you claim to have an artistic background, or graphic art experience (did I see you on 99designs maybe?) but I'm just not seeing it in your maps. You've yet to prove yourself to us, as mibi already has.
Yes I agree. I think that I have overworked my canvas. As i look at my first draft, I like the fact that it is much less complicated. Which is why I have decided to start over and begin with the feel of that first rough draft. I do like some of the elements of the overworked version, so I will try again. But this time I will try to make it less busy.AndyDufresne wrote:Lets keep the quoting of respect/disrespect out of this topic. No need to trudge every map through it. Work on the map, settle scores outside of the topic.
That aside, I think my point about the background trying to compete with the gameboard still stands. Visually, it feels like explosion in my eye.

That is BS yeti. I have routinely seen map makers foe people because of various conversations that go on in the Foundry. Personally, I am here to have a good time, and enjoy the process of map making. Not, to be harassed and lorded over by a juvenile delinquent, that treats me with only disrespect. If mibi has some constructive criticism to offer for the progression of this project, I will of coarse listen. But something tells me not to hold my breath.yeti_c wrote:Ignoring a single voice in the foundry is like slapping the foundry with a wet fish.
This attitude is not what the foundry is here for - goto GD if you want to ignore people.
Every voice in the foundry should be and deserves to be listened to.

I have never foed a single person, in the more than 2 years, that I have been a member of CC.yeti_c wrote:No-one on my foe list for misdeeds in the foundry...
