To be honest, the time difference doesn't bug me. For this map, it's not as if you were trying to recreate the Lewis and Clark Expedition so much as you are saying: "Here is a map with previously established trails and routes." In that case the Lewis and Clark trail could live side by side with the Oregon Trail or what have you.

But to be honest, I think a map pack would best and probably more fun.

True, but after working on this for a little while I think I've decided that I do want to recreate some of these events, and I think I've got a few pretty good ideas for at least one ;) I dunno, for now I think I'll put this one on the back burner and play around with an idea I've started to think about. I'll see what pops out in a few days or so...

I've done a complete 180 with my opinion, we should have maps that celebrate cultural genocide that aren't necessary wars. Keep on trucking dude, lets get this done. I'd love to see if this could make it through the process and onto the website. You'll have done something I believe to be impossible and I enjoy being wrong.

If we can get people to look past the theme and focus on it purely as a map there are some great ideas here that would make for very interesting gameplay.
Warning: You may be reading a really old topic.

I don't quite understand how talking about Manifest Destiny is celebrating cultural genocide. Yes, there was a lot of pushing the Native Americans out of their territory as everyone moved west, but when I look at the map I don't think "zomg, IndianHate." It's a perfectly fine topic for a map, and the depiction of the Native Americans resisting the expansion (which they did) is approximated by the bombardment aspect. None of that appears racist at all, and I think that your sarcasm is misplaced.

As for the map, this thing needs to get a move over to Gameplay Workshop, it's pretty much there.

LOL... I think Coleman is calling for a genocide map pack. West African Enslavement, The Holocaust, Rwanda, Darfur, Bosnia, etc.

I get the irony in all this at a war-gaming website, but there have always been some topics that have been a little too controversial or that were a bit insensitive. There will probably never be a proper Holy Land map, for example. This could be a fine map, but tread very carefully.

I appreciate your guys' interest and opinions on this, but I've pretty much taken this in a different direction. Basically, I'm breaking it down into several different maps so I can cover everything a little better and (hopefully) a little more fairly and honestly. If you like the idea and style of this map, please comment on "The Powell Expeditions" that I am working on now...genocide-free, and I'm sure you'll like it :)

Wow this looks really good to me! I think It might be more tactful to use the name Westward Expansion as the official map name, but I don't think it would be out of line to have the words Manifest destiny somewhere visible on the map.

Wow actually I just studied the rules and I'm in love with this. I think the Indian territories are a great idea, the way you have them now. I really like how you stet up the trail bonuses as well. Really cool!
