We spent time creating a 'holding cell' type usergroup---where busted multis and forum vacations would be sent to. Unfortunately, we could never get the functionality to really limit anyone's access to forum the ways we wanted to---and that is why we went with the Guest usergroup since it accomplished the functionality we were looking for.
I'll look back into things and see if there is a newer way, but I don't think the forum software has changed, since we've been on 3.0 phpBB the whole time during the issue.

see, this statement right here shows that you truly do not understand that losing your PM's is not part of the forum ban punishment, it is a problem with phpBB!!!
owenshooter wrote:it is not a punishment for breaking the rules, it is a flaw in the software. again, andy and lack and twill have all stated this, it is a flaw in the phpBB!!! losing your PM"s is not part of the punishment,
owenshooter wrote: so please stop stating that incorrect fact. the only people that have PM's removed as PART OF THEIR PUNISHMENT are people that are busted for PM abuse. again, you do not understand the basic krux of the argument, so please stop posting for the sake of posting, because you are not proving any point other than the fact that you do not understand the problem...-the black jesus

It might be an unintended part of the punishment but by default it is part of the punishment.

you aren't disagreeing with me. you are disagreeing with the facts. andy himself stated that it is not part of the punishment, it is a flaw in the phpBB... i don't know how you can disagree when a site admin states the exact thing you are saying is not true. i'll take andy's word on it over yours, nothing personal, he just knows what is going on with the phpBB and you don't...-the black jesus

Owen evil semp is not saying that it should be part of the punishment...he is just saying that the way things are it is part of the punishment which i think most everyone can agree is true.

no, everyone doesn't agree it is true, that is what the entire thread is about! andy even stated that it is not part of the punishment... sorry, have to roll with andy over both of you. you just can wrap your little moderator minds around the fact that the phpBB is the problem. again, it is not part of the punishment, and when they can change it they will...-the black jesus

That is completely different first off. Second off i never said I feel it should be part of the punishment. That said i would way rather lack spend resources on other things that helping punish users less for breaking the guidelines. As it stands when you get punished for violating the forum guidelines you lose access to your pm's, thus it is part of the punishment. Clearly we different views on the matter dont see why we need to go back and forth saying the same thing.

yeah, we don't need to go back and forth when ANDY himself has agreed that the loss of PM's is not part of the punishment, but is a fault of the phpBB and will be changed as soon as it can be. you are a wonderful member of the jr. mod squad, obtuse and unwilling to admit you are wrong, even when what you are stating has been dismissed by an ADMIN... keep on shining you bright star!-the black jesus
