Amazon divides books into "red" or "blue" and shares its results. It's an interesting and interactive map, but one can't infer too much from it.

1) Repub's write more books
2) Repub's feel like they need more help then Dem's
3) Dem's have a higher percentage of illiterates
4) Dem's don't use amazon but pirate the books online instead
I think number 4 is the most likely.

Political books only, and of that category, those that can be considered Republican or Democrat in the US market.

It's the same reason Conservative radio and television dominate, and why Liberal talk radio can only survive if it is subsidized and most Liberal television needs subsidies as well.
Reason: there is no market for Liberal talk or ideas.
In English: nobody wants to hear that bullshit, and the market shows they certainly are not going to pay for it.

Amazon divided the books using a "black-and-white" left-right dichotomy, as oppose to a Republican-Democrat dichotomy.
For example, the following aren't Republican but are considered right-wing:
11. Atlas Shrugged (Rand)
17. The Road to Serfdom: Text and Documents (Hayek)
18. Capitalism and Freedom (Friedman)
22.
Free to Choose: A Personal Statement
and about 14 others.
As for the other "red" books, I can't say because I haven't read them or are not familiar with them.

What about the "blue" books?

.
War Is a Force that Gives Us Meaning
Confessions of an Economic Hit Man (haha, this is left-wing? weird...)
The Post-American World: Release 2.0

A sort of reasonable point, although you ignore the main issue- that these are political books, and largely those that deal with US politics along Republican and Democratic lines.
Would you care to place the top selling book on Amazon into red or blue territory?
Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Sixth Edition
We classify books as red or blue if they have a political leaning made evident in book promotion material and/or customer classification, such as tags.

Ha. That isn't political, and the amazon map is political, but you're smart enough to realize that, right?
Anyway,
Still waiting for you to explain how Rand, Milton, and Hayek are Republican, while Perkins, Zinn, and Chomsky are Democratic---- as oppose to the more sensible and factual reasoning: it's a left-right dichotomy, not a Republican-Democrat dichotomy.
If you cared to read how they determine "red" and "blue," you'd realize that your assumption isn't the full picture; therefore, it's incorrect:We classify books as red or blue if they have a political leaning made evident in book promotion material and/or customer classification, such as tags.
Why do you hate being wrong?
Or is this a way for you to release some anxiety/pressure within your RL?

Thanks, Sym. I'll make sure that everyone sends you a copy of their new OP, for your peer-viewing pleasure.

So are the Republican supporters buying their own copy of the books the Democratic supporters being more frugal sharing their books with each other?

Republicans can afford to buy the book and Democrats buy one and share it with each other.
