Well, close. IIRC he walked into the house without knocking on the door, thinking it was a friends house. And he was wearing an elaborate costume. But the clincher was it was 3 weeks before Halloween.

So yeah, you're sitting in your living room on a fall evening and the door suddenly opens and a stranger wearing bloody clothes and a mask walks in and doesn't respond to your English-language warnings to get out ... that's usually a recipe for disaster.

I found the article. They never entered the house. They were actually leaving after they rang the bell and the door didn't open, and the homeowner exited the house and shot the student point blank. He wasn't dressed in bloody clothes, he was wearing a tuxedo and it was Baton Rouge.

And was it Halloween?

You know what they say... When in Rome, don't break into an American's house to steal their weed.

wait... after you steal a guys weed and his pipes/bongs, etc a few times, he is going to stand his ground!!! i mean, who cares if he set an elaborate trap and then discussed it with his hairdresser before luring this teen into his garage and murdering him?! i like the part where he staged a purse at the back of the garage as bait... what an idiot... however, when you let guys get away with murder in huge media covered cases, you kind of set a precedent that you can get away with murder... and then some of them do and some of them don't...

Most Europeans, especially as young as 17 have NO idea what a fucked-up place the US is.It's only with the advent of the 'net we are becoming educated. They are raised in an environment where they hardly ever see guns.I'm 58 and I've never even touched one.So glad I wasn't born there.

Maybe you guys like "most Eurpeans" don't live or work in a place where you could get mauled to death by a black bear coming out of the wash car ( trailer with sinks and toilets.) like Lorna Weafer.

Let's make it a huge hassle for dimes and his responsible buddies to own legal firearms. Funny how the "suspect" shooting Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers the other day had a gun. Do you think it was registered?

I really don't understand all the fear of firearms in the world. I was taught to use firearms before I could ride a bike. I've carried a firearm for most of my adult life (I'm 57), and have yet to kill anyone. {as a civilian} I taught my kids to shoot starting around 4-5 years of age. The youngest is 20, and they haven't shot anyone either. I also love the "statistics" and "facts" anti-gunners use. If you would do a little research, you would find that most of them are biased, manipulated, or flat out fabricated. (and no, I won't show you. Get off your lazy ass and do your own legwork)

Here are a few stories you anti's will hate. :D

FYI: My avatar is my go to carry gun. A Smith & Wesson Model 36 5 shot .38 special, circa 1970. Carried this one for 18+ years, ain't shot nobody yet!

I suppose my point is, my guns are NONE OF YOUR FUCKING BUSINESS!!!! So, STFU, GTFO, and GFYS. Have a nice day! :D

We are...he clearly said what he wanted. Very precise....no BS. That's as free as you get Chang-o-rama

ps....Way to pick one side bias-boy...lol.

These threads always deteriorate into the liberals / anti-gun non-americans spewing claims they know absolutely NOTHING about with a few well placed reasonable posts by actual gun owners. I was the same as Dawg....5 generations of my family haven't shot anyone yet but have all been shooters since the age of 5.

Enough of this crap.....bye bye silly thread.

The problem as i see it aint the gun/guns... i mean i hunt and have guns. I learned to respect them and shoot em at the age of 5. So now im passing that on to my kids. Respect the gun, its not evil/bad/stupid or firing itself... the person behind it is another point! So maybee thats what we should talk about:)

This conversation has become interesting while removed a bunch from the psycho that shooted the guy that some of us think should not have entered said psycho's territory.

Borderdawg specifically requested we shut the feminists up about "his guns."

I suspect he welcomes further discussion of other people's guns and some people's choice to attempt to avoid guns altogether, possibly feeling safer in a country where psychos have to kill intruders with something sharp or a proper booby trap such as a suspended heavy weight.

Rely less on politics to fix problems. That leaves people with markets and civil societies.

And be open to the 'do nothing' approach. If one problem is not systematic (e.g. the occasional German stealing stuff from a garage), then it doesn't make sense to mobilize the democratic spirits to implement changes at the national or even the State level. That tends to 'fix' one problem while creating other problems (which then tend to be addressed again through politics; repeat ad nauseum).

Your 'people make 'bad' decisions when they're emotional' point swings both ways. A political system that does not let people act upon every emotional impulse they have can help to insure against emotional groundswells too.

An example that springs to mind is the UK's 'EU referendum' - the British public get all screechy and demand to leave the EU, at which point the prime minister kicks the can down the road a few years without having to worry about an immediate reprisal. This then buys time for the hysteria to die down before any serious decisions are made.

As for the guns - I'm sure glad they aren't legal in China. Even if we discount the recent rash of terrorists who've been popping up in stations, there are enough highly-strung, repressed nutters roaming the streets here to have everyone dead by Thursday if they had legal access to assault rifles.

Or at least, half the wives of China would have been shot by their psychotic husbands by Thursday.

Sure, occasionally the 'benevolent' politician makes a presumably good move--regardless of voter rage.

Here's a fun blog about a study which found that preferences of poor voters are not nearly as influential as the preferences of the richer voters:

http://econlog.econlib.org/archives/201 ... ocrac.html

In contrast, I find Gilens' results not only intellectually satisfying, but hopeful. If his results hold up, we know another important reason why policy is less statist than expected: Democracies listen to the relatively libertarian rich far more than they listen to the absolutely statist non-rich. And since I think that statist policy preferences rest on a long list of empirical and normative mistakes, my sincere reaction is to say, "Thank goodness." Democracy as we know it is bad enough. Democracy that really listened to all the people would be an authoritarian nightmare.

I own guns, but a lot of cowards want to own guns to prove how macho they are. I'd rather kill someone breaking into my home with my bare hands, as that would feel better to feel their life evaporate before me, then say a blast from a gun.

Guns are very easy to use and it would take some guts to kill someome with your bare hands or say a knife, since it would be easier to just pull a trigger. Most people would be offended to get blood on themselves or put some effort to actually kill someone.

Most States in America, make it too easy to have and purchase guns by unstable people.
