Katarians (Cat-are-e-ins)
(My expected reader base is human so I will be replacing Katarian terms with human ones for ease of understanding. For example, when I use the word year I am referring to a human year. The Katarian year is roughly 57 earth days shorter, although their days are longer by a few hours.)
Before starting the history of the Katarian race as it is today it is important to help you understand what a Katarian is. Katarians are what humans would classify as reptile/mammal hybrids. They have live birth and breast feeding like mammals, but their skin is reptilian in nature. They would be considered warm blooded but they are capable of taking over their blood temperature by thinking about it much they way a human can regulate their breathing even though it is a normally automatic process.
The typical Katarian has a similar bone structure to a human and tends to stand on two legs as humans do. Although when they are younger they assume a stance similar to Gorillas, which as adults they also assume when they run. Their claws help them dig into the ground as they run for extra traction and speed, and are strong enough to help them climb up most surfaces without losing much speed. They live about 80 to 120 years.
What makes the Katarian very different from humans are their blades and claws. Katarians have blades in several places on their body that they can send out and retract back into them selves from slits in their skin. The typical Katarian male has 10 blades, 2 wrist blades, 2 scapula (shoulder) blades, 2 femur blades, 2 fibula blades, and 2 arm blades just above their wrist blades. The male blades are sickle shaped and go out about 2 to 3 inches from their bodies; their other dimensions depend on the blade in question. The female has only 4 blades, 2 on where the human radius bones would be that go out through their wrists above the hand, and 2 that rest over their femurs they can send out through their knees. These blades are about twice or sometimes 3 times as long as the male blades and are sword shaped.
Katarian history is sketchy as they didn't feel the need to record it until their feudal stage, and that was mostly blood lines and not what was happening in their world. It is believed that after a tribal stage they formed blood clans that fought with each other for over a hundred thousand years. During this course of time the Katarian male was considered lower class and not permitted to fight, and stayed home with few rights. Females were considered more effective due to their increased attack range and agility.
About 1000 years before the end of their feudal era in what was considered a renascence stage, more history was beginning to be recorded. It is said a Katarian male known as Gyrigo (Jie-re-go) appeared, the son of one of the greatest Katarian soldiers of the era. Gyrigo fled home and the life as a farmer and gatherer to train on his own to fight. Discovered by the royalty of his region they intended to put him to death in the arena to be made an example of. Gyrigo displayed unheard of speed and strength in the arena nearly killing his single female combatant, their current captain of the guard, although she managed to defeat him in the end.
Instead of killing him their Matriarch decided to use him as a shock troop in guerilla warfare. Most males were frail, he was strong and frightening in appearance, but still being male their enemies wouldn't expect him to be a good fighter, or a fighter at all. He served under the very captain he fought in the arena and led his nation to complete victory over their rivals. His precedent introduced the males as possible soldiers and soon it was acceptable and many followed in his footsteps.
Although the infighting never stopped, the introduction of males into warfare also was the introduction to women scientists and more women in non-combatant roles. Technology began to advance. Eventually the Katarians achieved space flight and related technologies. They discovered a way to teleport over short distances and equipped their ships with the ability to allow deep space travel by repeatedly teleporting. This was mostly done for exploration purposes only.
Disaster struck about 400 years ago. Another alien race referred to as The Plague by most sentient alien races discovered the Katarian home world and quickly assimilated it. The only Katarians left alive were those with fleets away from the planet, and they fled in all directions. This situation forced the Katarians to come together as a race and stop fighting each other. It was on this day that Katarians began to refer to themselves as such, named after their lost planet Kataria, so they never forget the tragedy and the joys of having a world to their own.
The Katarian race as it exists today is a rag tag collection of these escaped space fleets. Usually only comprised of a few ships (3 to 4), the largest current fleet, controlled by Admiral Andomodoas (An-dom-o-doe-iss) has 11 ships and there are about 70 recorded fleets, although the exact number is not known to outsiders.
These fleets meet together once every 50 years for the great gathering. During this time the fleets intermingle and share their discoveries with each other, as well as their sons and daughters.

In addition there is a census and any fleets lost since that last gathering are mourned for These gatherings also include discussion concerning possible locations for a new home planet, but to this day they have never agreed on a location, and many prefer this new kind of lifestyle.
One of these fleets is currently under the command of Alderian (Al-dare-e-an) who has 4 ships. Alderian can trace his blood back to Gyrigo and considers himself the greatest warrior of his whole race. It has been 30 Katarian years since the last gathering to this day. Alderian's Fleet stumbled across a new potential home world without really setting out to do so. The people of Alderian's Fleet viewed this discovery and that date on which it happened, the 30th anniversary of the last gathering, as a sign.
Alderian himself noticed a few other races in position around the planet, but his fleet, being one of the most fanatical about finding a new home world could not be held back from this opportunity. Alderian decided to succumb to the wills of his people despite the risk and prepared some exploration teams into the planet, which his people were already referring to as New Kataria.

Sorry, no pictures this time. This race and the Corporation are the only ones I insist on being in the game. I was hoping to do the stories for all of them but DiM has already finished very impressive stations himself and seems to have some race story plans. So I'll respect the work he's done and wait to see what he has going on.
These guys need a fleet of one large ship and 3 smaller ones for their starting territory. The corporation needs a human looking station still. If you want to be funny I don't mind if it has McDonalds or other huge corporation stuff on it.
