before you think of army circles and background choices you still have some serious graphic issues to take care of. see image below for details.

Image

after you take care of those. think about changing the background the legend the title, adding a signature and army circles and don't forget about territory names. a few pages back i see you added terit names but those where ugly and i think were just a draft or something.

and one more thing. the background images you presented are pretty useless for the following 2 reasons:
1. they might be copyrighted. check on that before you use them
2. we can't vote unless we see them on the map. so do 4 versions , one with each background so we can see how they blend and how the general aspect is like. an image can look great on its own but at the same time it can look crappy when put as a background for a map. lighting blending or simply it's color can spoil the balance of the map.

i already took care of that

2. There are too many purple/pinkish colors, can you change some.
for color change, that is going to be really hard but i might be able to do it. but while i'm changing it do you guys want a differnt texture?

3. How is Hokkaido connect to anything?

its not in that image, tha twas only for the army shime

like i said there DiM ^^,thats not the real image, this is

all those have been done.

I think you need some kanji on your map.

忍び shinobi Ninja
刀 katana sword
日本 nihon japan
戦争 senso(u) war

Im currenty in japan and can speak it quite well. so if you need a translation of anything you might want on the map give me a PM or E-mail
and i will get back to you as soon as i can.

One other thing Its hakodate not hakedate and its Ibaraki not Ibaragi
There can only be one. OK sometimes two or three.

you should probably make each station a different shape just so it's clear for everyone

square, circle, triangle, diamond, star

Sorry if this has been discussed but I haven't read the past few pages.

I'm still worried about the colours. They're too close to be the same, and I, who is not colour-blind, can hardly notice the difference from the north western island to the north part of the main island.

The legend is confusing too with the colours being the same. I couldn't even tell what the Northern part of Japan was due to the colours being closely tied.

Sorry again if this has been discussed, but that's the thing that's bugging me about this map. The colours, the sword, the train stations (which just look like smudges on the map) and the warrior.

Well actually I made the background and all the stuff that is on the map, it was just a start, so the blue dots that DiM found were just because I didn't cut out the blue see that well...
I thought Unit_2 would be able to change things so he can make it entirely his map...I don't need credits for anything...I'm just here to help people out.

But Unit, I think you first have to learn how to use everything, don't run to fast ahead. Try some things out, try not to focus to much on 1 map when learning how to use Photoshop. Search tutorials, invent some things, take a picture of yourself and mess around with it.
Just make yourself familiar with the program you use and than when you have more or less enough skills, post your map and ask for comments.

The thing we do in the foundry is not to tell you what to do, we are here to say 'try that', 'maybe it looks cool if...', '*use some difficult map makers talk*. But after all it stays your idea and your map.

I know it's a lot of work and I know you want to quench your map and be proud about your work. But it needs time and I know you will get there :!:
Keep up the good work

(I don't say I don't want to help you anymore, I just don't have a lot of time right now)

nope not all the problems have been solved and even more problems have appeared. let's take them 1 by 1.

1. the 4 way border that i circled still exists.
2. the confusing border that i circled in the tokyo region still exists
3. the sea spot from the old backgound is still there and you just covered it with a circle.
4. you still have to present 4 versions for the proposed backgrounds before people can vote.
5. the color of the names and the font isn't suited for the map
6. the signatures are not aligned
7. the colored dots that connect the terits are not only ugly but they don't have a logical background.
8. the terit names are all over the borders and in some places the block the view and you can't tell what borders what.
9. the terit names are poorly positioned as they don't leave much room for army circles.
10. the border pixelization is gone but you still have variable border thickness in some areas like the nara <> wakeyama zone. or in akita. and in some areas the borders don't go all the way to the sea. they stop short a few px.

but the most disturbing problem is the quality difference of what you added compared to what gnome added. compare the nice legend gnome did to your dots and terit names and the little explanation bellow the legend. this big difference hurts the eyes.

i have told you before and i'm telling you again. take your time play with every toold you have in photoshop. read tutorials on the internet, post questions in the TTT thread and when you have learned to use photoshop better come back and do this properly. until you do that the only way you can get your name on a map is if somebody does all the graphics for you.

are you sure they aren't copyrighted?

there are various forms of copyright. for example i can put an image on the net and say it's free to use in personal projects but not for commercial purposes.

read carefully you don't want to get lack into trouble with the law

can we not reprise qwert-esque issues with the pixelation of the borders. They are quite fine and do not need to be subject to this pixelated/blur border bullshit.

We wouldn't allow it. Just like xml I am now going to be anal about copyright issues. I'm only burned once. (Although Midkemia wasn't Gnome's fault so much, as I was lead to believe... well I won't point fingers, but stuff made me think it had been cleared)

Anyway, if I don't say something assume you tricked us, or that you're okay. But getting caught tricking us is never fun.
