They are each on a different shape starting out from the simplest (in my opinion at least).
Geometry:Circle:

This map just adds one troop to every player owned territory at the start of the round. There are also bonuses based on connecting an amount of regions in each ring as explained in the map.
Geometry:Triangle:

This one is all about fighting for the corners of the map and once you have claimed the corner (with a stack of 6+) you can get a bonus of 1 deployed to all regions in the triangle of that colour at the start of your turn. Though you can bombard all of the corners from the center of the map.
Geometry:Square:

This is the only map of the 4 that is a conquest map you start in a number of the purple squares and can attack either the orange or yellow square, both of which gain 1 troop a round until they have 10 or more troops where they will shrink (so be careful leaving stacks around) and the aqua squares lose 1 troop a round until on 1 where they will grow. This one is probably the most strategic of the 4 and takes longer to understand/master.

This is my favourite of the 4
